| I would really like to get laminate floors in my living room. I have heard good and bad things about them. Could you please let me know what you think about them? Do they show dirt/hair? Are they hard to keep clean? If you have both, which do you like better, capet or laminate? Thanks!

| We ripped all of our carpet up and put laminate down. I love it!!! My house is so much cleaner now, at least I think so. We have 8 dogs. Our largest are English Mastiffs and they do no harm to it. I buy a carpet rem and have it bound every 6 months or so for the middle of the room. I love the laminate!!!!!!

| I vote laminate! I cannot stand carpet, I feel like it's never truly clean, just a dirt-hider!

| I pulled up the carpet and put down laminate and I wish I had my carpet back. The puppies slide across the floor when they are going too fast. The laminate is a lot harder to keep clean at my house.

| After Ike destroyed my wood floors and some carpeted areas, I went all porcelain tile. I totally LOVE it. If you get laminate, you need to make sure it is not going to allow anything to leak under it. Read about it thoroughly first. My son has it and hates it! If the dogs piddle on it, it has been lifting in some areas and he finds it a mess to keep streak free.

| I detest carpet, it's just a germ factory, ewww!!! If you are going to go with laminate, though, make sure it's a high quality one. If it's not, you'll have problems with it for sure! Are your dogs pee-pad trained? If they are, then you may not be able to have any throw rugs, as they'll think that those are pee pads too At least mine did! I only use small bath mats now that are cotton, so that they can be put into the washing machine. Every couple of days, one of my girls will invariably pee on one of my doormats![]() Good luck, whatever you decide!

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have laminate in the kitchen, breakfast area, hall and entryway and the rest is carpeted. I hate carpeting as a couple of mine aren't as trained as I would like and it seems impossible to keep it clean. The laminate has come up where water sat under a plant stand and some scratches in it that you can't do anything about. If I could I would have all tile. I never heard of porcelain tile is it similar to ceramic? Sounds nice.

They are both good.....here is a link that explains the differences. I honestly do not think there is a big difference. Difference between Ceramic and Porcelain Tile

| That is how I feel about carpet too. It seems like stains are impossible to get out of carpet. I was thinking about getting laminate for this reason. I figure if anything spills, I can just clean it up.

| Throw rugs? Aren't those just really plush pee pads? I know that's what Lucy thinks!

| After we got Ringo and because we both have bad allergies (and my girlfriend's husband has a great hobby) we decided to have our entire house done in hardwood floors. I love the beauty of it and the cleanliness factor; BUT man, those hard floors are killer on the knees. If I have to get down on my knees to play or get something - that's when I miss my carpet. We're in the process of moving to a house that has some hardwood; some carpet; and some laminate in the bedrooms. Should be interesting.

| Laminate floors for sure! I have NO carpet in my house. I don't think the laminate is hard to keep clean. I use a Swifter and I think it does a great job. My son has allergies so all carpet had to go in our house. We sold that house and now have ceramic tile and laminate only in our new one. I think they are great! |
