Okay question; I have a slate kitchen floor; means it is a little bumpy in places. I want to get something to clean that, as well I have hardwood.

Just don't know if I should go with a steam cleaner or this hoover gizmo thing.

That was my problem as well. My tile is natural and very groovy :daisy: :cool::teethysmi The spin brushes do a good job on the grooves and grout. I do find I have to go a little slower to give the brushes time to spin in the dips though :D.

So MY recommendation is the floormate based on my experience with the steam mop on the same floor.

I would have to agree as well. My floor in my LR is tile and very bumpy and it did a very nice job cleaning it. It comes with 2 sets of brushes and you can change between hardwood and tile. The tile brushes are a little stiffer. But I have not changed the brushes and it does a really nice job with the hardwood brush that I have been using.

Everyone in the house has notice a difference in how the floor "feel" on your barefeet. There is no residue or those little bitsies that you sometimes get when you don't have carpet. Right now the county is working on the road in front of my house. It's just a mess and no matter how hard I tried the dirt in the air was everywhere inside the house. It is a mess. Plus it's been so humid that I had noticed that the floor felt extra gross no matter how much I tried to keep them clean. But I really have to say the Hoover made an immediate difference. They just are not sticky there are no bitsies either.

I also had the Shark steam mop (canister type) and I hated it! I think it was pretty close to the same price and IMO really didn't have the WOW factor of the Hoover. After spending all that money on it I think I only used it 2 times and it's sitting in my laundry room just looking pretty. :rolleyes: I had actually gone back to the OCedar mop that Bonbon and I both purchased.

For the edges of the floor I use the little tool and it seemed to work really well. Before I start doing the inside floor I ran the tool with the wand in the corners and along the edges kind of pushing the water way from the wall (does that make sense) then when I did the rest of the floor I just picked it up then.

I know what you mean about the feet! It seemed like no matter how much I swept or used the other mop there would still be something left on the floor. Then if it was humid out black feet even if I had just mopped! :eek:

I have a bit of an obsession with clean feet. I even sent a few YT members texts with pictures of my nasty dirty feet and the canister of nasty dirty water after I cleaned with my FloorMate :D Sherry's hubby thought it was a pitcher of margaritas :eek: :cheers: :D

Has anyone used this on wood floors? People always say water and wood don't mix. My floors are a little warn out fron the doogs and stuff so not sure how sealed they still are but I can see they are dirty and It bugs me. My dad says the water will warp the floor. I am so confussed.

I had one in San Diego- got rid of it when we moved because I didn't think it would be good for wood floors. But when I had it, I loved it. My only complaint was the tank was awfully small and I needed to refill it part way through. Could just be I had extra dirty floors though :rolleyes:

It is made for wood, laminate and tile floors. But the directions do way that your floors need to be sealed properly. So if you have bare wood from wear and tear I would not recommend using ANY water. Maybe you could have them sanded and resealed. If you use it properly you are not putting a huge amount of water on the floors. I've been learning as I got and a little spray goes a long way. When you apply the cleaner then you can spread it around in a small area and suck it back up.

That's true unless you are obsessive/compulsive like me and like to "let it soak" for 2 or 3 minutes before sucking it back up :D It's imperative that I suck it all up before it drys though ~ don't want dry dirty water on my floors ;) Did I mention I'm obsessive about my floors? :D

I have one that sits in my closet On my laminate floor in my kitchen it may clean the floor but the floor looks smokey.i tryed everything,tryed filterd water nothing seems to help

Weird question ~ Did you try just hot water in the FloorMate? There would be nothing to make them look cloudy unless the floors have previous damage :confused:

Good question! Anyone have an answer? I might have hard wood or laminate floors so I'd like to know how to clean them properly without using chemicals that might hurt the little ones.
