LOL...yes, we were having withdrawals...I was ready to start a fund drive to get her a new computer:D

Yes, I'm the one that helped V get her computer back up and running, still need to finish up, she has just been to busy to get it done.

I could have used your help a few days ago, but I solved it myself.

I misplaced my desktop and it had an address of users/owner/documents/desktop/desktop/desktop/...13 times.

I finally figured out how to get it back to where it belonged.

good to have some tech support on board.

I am getting a lot of "threats" this evening, started around 6pm - some kind of recaptcha_ajax threat. I move them to the virus vault. But then my AVG disappeared from the tray. I restarted it and am running a scan now, so far it has found one threat - an HTML/Framer

Any ideas???

Just finsihed the scan - and this is what it found:

"C:\Users\cookielady\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windo ws\Temporary Internet Files\Low\Content.IE5\19KS2B71\recaptcha_ajax[1].js";"Virus found HTML/Framer";"Moved to Virus Vault"

Looks to me it came from a unprotected website, and its code will pretty much be used to redirect your searches. The IE5 part is what scares me, cause when IE is updated it usually removes this folder, are you using the latest version of Internet Explorer 8?

It looks like its something to redirect you to other malicious websites, but the weird thing is it downloaded to a temp folder for Internet Explorer 5, you using the latest version of Internet Explorer 8?

Don't want to take away from the other poster's problem.....maybe it will help them also.....but how do you check if using the latest version of IE 8? If not, how do I download??

My Windows Security Update has been failing forever for the update to IE 8???

here is a link to download IE and it will check for you if you have the latest version or not Internet Explorer 8 Windows 7 Security Features Malware Privacy , if your using windows 7 IE 8 is already installed

I tried downloading & msg reads:
Setup cannot continue because a more recent version of IE has been detected on this computer.

Yet an update for IE 8 is failing on Windows Update for me which has been happening forever??:confused:

Close all programs.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Click Add or Remove Programs.
In the list of currently installed programs, click Windows Internet Explorer 8, and then click Remove.

Try this then run windows updates again, sometimes if a piece of software in manually installed instead through the update center website, it still thinks it needs to update it
