If that doesn't work then you can do this, Carefully select and then copy the following command:%windir%\ie8\spuninst\spuninst.exe Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type Cmd.exe, and then press ENTER. Right-click inside the Cmd.exe window, and then click Paste to paste the command that you copied in step 1. Press ENTER to uninstall Internet Explorer 8. When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer. |
yes, I updated IE8. I just rebooted my computer in safe mode and ran AVG to make sure all was clean again. I downloaded Firefox, and am running that right now. I am afraid to run IE at the moment - I'll run it again in the morning to see if the threat pops up again. Funny, I went to a website earlier, from a link on YT,and it loaded the page, but while I was reading it, it switched to an error 404 - MYSpace page not found! Even though I was not at a MYspace page. My husband said he was at the IMDB page earlier on his computer and he also got the Myspace error. this is very strange. |
more then likely your husbands computer has it as well, these kinds of viruses like to spread to all computers on a network, I would also install Spybot Search and Destroy, and run the immunize feature in it, this helps block these types of things from installing in the first place. The home of Spybot-S&D! |
I just downloaded and installed Spybot and ran the immunize. According to that I am fully protected. But, just ran IE and that darn threat came up again. Moved to Virus Vault and deleted it. No problems if I run Firefox. But I don't really care too much for Firefox, but then I don't like that threat popping up when I run IE8 |
Have your cleaned out your cookies, history, and cache? a lot of viruses will continue to recreate itself if the host file is still on the machine, let me know if you would like to setup a remote support session |
HI MATT ! It's me :) you know - the one who thanks to you is now up and running again ? Since you did such a great job getting rid of that rouge AV Security Suite Trojan via the phone - with the memory trojan I have still - maybe we can do it remotely this time - hopefully I won't be blocked out like the other night from your remote site professional help - FYI - I may be repeating myself - but Matt has a website and anyone who needs a pro should give him a shot - ONE trojan on my computer turned into 28 before Matt helped me. He's very reasonably priced & you don't have to take your computer 'out' to be fixed - he had me up and running in hours - not weeks - |
Matt - FYI - I just tagged this thread for you. I still can't believe since you helped me I'm able to be online and have not seen one problem.:thumbup::thumbup: I'll be contacting you within the next few days so we can finish up our Sessions... You did a great job a little advise to my buddies - don't wait like I did to fix a computer issue - had I knew about Matt (thanks to Karen) I would have never almost crashed. Course I thought I could fix this myself but in this case - was wrong Just a few days with viruses and trojans can wreak havoc on your computer and that's just what happened to me wish we knew about Matt when Patti's computer had a similar trojan problem - he could have fixed it at a very very reasonable price rather than her giving up and taking a hammer to it ....poor woman - I hope she gets a new computer soon |

I haven't had any problems with IE 8, now some companies have had problems because they use out-dated software, but I believe it is safe to do the update |

Last night I rebooted the computer in safe mode and ran AVG. Everything clean. Using Firefox everything is fine. But the minute I runIE8 that threat pops up and I lose the AVG in my tray. Spybot is running, tells me how many processed it has blocked etc. I rebooted the computer again and everything is fine again now - running Firefox. I just cant run IE8. I guess I will get used to Firefox. Many of my friends rave about Firefox, but I was more used to using IE. |
As I posted in the other thread, try cleaning out cookies, cache, history, or we can setup a time for a remote support session |
