Sooo... I dropped the babies off with the rabbit expert w/ AL Mammal Rescue this afternoon. (She is also an active member of AL Ears, the bunny rescue group here in the state.) When I got them out of the nest, there were 3 and they were SOOO small. Like the size of little hamsters or mice.

She took them and said she estimated they'd been born Monday--2 days old! Orphaned at 1 day! She said that at this point she would have to tube feed them, but had done it many times with a high success rate. She said that they would release them in the same area and that I could come to the release with her.

She is going to keep me updated on their progress. So sad, but I feel like I did everything I could and delivered them to the most competent hands I could.

Years ago we found two orphaned baby bunnies. They were only a day or so old, they were the only survivors. No one around would take them in so young and told us they wouldn't make it. We bottle fed them every two hours and kept a heating rock in their little cage.
They did great and were able to be released later on.

I'm glad to hear your little bunnies are in good hands now.
