| Don't forget to look in the resale/thrift shops for treasures! We found lots of beautiful things there. The weather is damp cold...so, it feels much cooler than usual. Pack layers---like cuddle duds--a thin long john that keeps heat in! By Notre Dame in Paris is a beutiful hidden gem. Down on the river---there is a tunnel memorial to holocaust survivors--with thousands of gems lit by the sun to memorialize all who died in the river escaping. Eat street food--and lots of bread and cheese from the grocery stores! Your tour sounds fab! |

| We saw that gem! It was incredible. That whole area was really nice to walk around. In Paris, you can be walking down a street and all you have to do is make a quick turn and be in a completely different type of area.

My Mom wants to ride the Eye too! I'm terrified of heights, but I've heard it's slow??? The hotel is Thistle Marble Arch in London. Where did you say? Any advice or suggestions in London? We are flying in a day early, so we will have two days in London on our own before the tour.

PLEASE eat fish and chips at a pub. Yum. You should also see a show and have dinner. The area where the shows are is a great area to walk around. Search online (or I can help you) find a dinner/show combo.

| The London Eye is very slow. When we were on there we watched a couple getting married in another one of the pods. The area where the shows are is nice as already mentioned and that is where some of the nice restaurants are too.

![]() I'm not much of a fish person, but my Mom is. Isn't the fish in London served where it still looks like a fish? We would love to see a show! Our hotel is on Oxford street & states it's close to the theatre district! We are trying to decide about the Eurostar, if it's worth it to upgrade the seating?

| In France, the only place I have been was the airport and that was a trip in it's self! My sister and I did go to Ireland for a week. We flew into Dublin and out of Shannon. Rented a car (oh and by the way they drive on the other side of the road. A fact that I would forget every morning when we started out but the blaring car horn would quickly remind me) and drove down the coast from Dublin stopping a million places. The Waterford factory was great. Blarney Castle and then up to Shannon. From Shannon we drove inland to Co. Longford and saw the house where my grand mother was born and lived before coming to the US. The weather (Sept) was a little chilly and damp but we had a great time. Have a Guinness for me. If you have an iphone look at apps for learning French. When I went to Haiti I brought one for Creole and it really helped me learn a little of the langauge before I went.

Also as another poster mentioned we drive on the left hand side of the road over here, just incase you were thinking of hiring a car. Also if you were travelling end of October you should check out any Halloween tours. There are loads of really old castles in England and Scotland which do Halloween ghost tours. I live in Newcastle and here we have ghost tours all year round, I have never been on one myself but I have heard they are good. Which part of Scotland are you going to? Edinburgh has lots of places like that, The most famous is the Edinburgh underground vaults. Edinburgh Vaults There are so many things to do and see in England and Scotland (never been to Ireland or Paris sorry). There should be some leaflets in your hotel

| I'm very surprised more Americans don't get hit by cars. You won't believe how difficult it is crossing the streets in London. They have written on the streets how to look and which way to look first. It was very hard for me to get used to as cars were whizzing by me as I'm looking left, then right. Oops.
