| Ditto, ditto, ditto .... I am referring to RNs in the hospital ... and those who deal with the elderly as well. SAINTS simply SAINTS.

| Nursing is definitely one of the most 'giving' and 'selfless' professions. I applaud all of you girls who have chosen to help others during your lives. BRAVO!!!!! BRAVO! angels on Earth

| I'm an RN too! I was a pediatric nurse for about four years and then I went to work for our city schools. Pay is terrible but the hours are great. No call, no nights, no weekends, and off in the summer. Best part is that I can spend time with my kids. I love the flexibility but I do miss the hospital. Today was the first day of school and I missed my puppy. Couldn't wait to get home. |

| My praise goes out to all of those in the honorable field of nursing. I am also studying in the medical field, however, I do not have near enough patience to be an RN! |

| Hello, fellow nurses!! I am a new grad & will be taking my boards in 1 week & 2 days! I am nervous but excited to finally be finished with my schooling so I can practice in the real world! I'm on YT because I've been looking into acquiring a new puppy, & am hoping to find a puppy once I've passed the NCLEX, (I think of this puppy as a "Congrats-on-becoming-an-RN-puppy") I'm glad that I found this forum because before I make any big decisions, a question that I've wanted to ask fellow RN yorkie owners is...Is it possible for yorkies to manage in the house while owners are working 12 hour shifts? If it is possible, how do they manage? Is there anything I can do to make this arrangement work? I'd appreciate any feedback! ![]() A bit more about me: Yes, I am expecting that I'll work 12 hour shifts once I land a job, but I'm currently unemployed & waiting on hospitals to call me back to respond to my apps. I live in the Philadelphia/S. NJ area where nurses are actually not in demand at the moment, and it is difficult for my peers & I to land jobs I'm not too happy about my employment situation, but I figured it would be good timing to get a puppy before beginning work so that I have adequate time to bond/train/socialize/get accustomed to having a puppy. Also, I would not be living alone when receiving this puppy. I would be living with my father who could help me out when I begin working long hours. Though, he also works from about 6 AM - 4 PM so I'm sure there will be days that the dog will be unsupervised. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |

| I'm a NICU RN! @ Keymeey- It is possible for yorkies to manage while working 12 hour shifts, although if it were up to them they would say "What? Away from mama for 12 hours? NO WAY!". It helps a lot when you have help, my hubby gets off work before I do so he lets her out when he gets home. But she is alone for about 8 hours on the 3 days a week I work. Sometimes he is able to come home in his lunch break to let her out and that helps. I recommend getting an X-pen and plenty of chew toys. And in the beginning, try working up to leaving her for long periods of time, to help with separation anxiety. Good luck finding a job! PM me if you have any more questions! |
