Hello, fellow nurses!!

I am a new grad & will be taking my boards in 1 week & 2 days! I am nervous but excited to finally be finished with my schooling so I can practice in the real world!

I'm on YT because I've been looking into acquiring a new puppy, & am hoping to find a puppy once I've passed the NCLEX, (I think of this puppy as a "Congrats-on-becoming-an-RN-puppy")

I'm glad that I found this forum because before I make any big decisions, a question that I've wanted to ask fellow RN yorkie owners is...Is it possible for yorkies to manage in the house while owners are working 12 hour shifts? If it is possible, how do they manage? Is there anything I can do to make this arrangement work? I'd appreciate any feedback!

A bit more about me: Yes, I am expecting that I'll work 12 hour shifts once I land a job, but I'm currently unemployed & waiting on hospitals to call me back to respond to my apps. I live in the Philadelphia/S. NJ area where nurses are actually not in demand at the moment, and it is difficult for my peers & I to land jobs I'm not too happy about my employment situation, but I figured it would be good timing to get a puppy before beginning work so that I have adequate time to bond/train/socialize/get accustomed to having a puppy.

Also, I would not be living alone when receiving this puppy. I would be living with my father who could help me out when I begin working long hours. Though, he also works from about 6 AM - 4 PM so I'm sure there will be days that the dog will be unsupervised.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
