Censorship ? In all fairness since some members seem to be able to post whatever they please without being censored I thought I would post my opinion, out in the open, where others who may have chosen to disregard the threads in question will see and not miss. The threads in question are labeled by the posters as fun and they believe that we ( the general members) should not be offended because we can always press the ignore button, or disregard the thread altogether. Okay, I understand that concept and have done so in the past , but those were threads that were filled with drama and not very pleasant, but certainly not obscene or questionable to young impressionable eyes. These particular threads in question are borderline, if not completely , obscene and most certainly blue in color. Yes, I can ignore them and disregard them, but there are families who have been visiting this forum for years without having to worry about such things and have always considered Yorkie Talk a safe venue for their children to enjoy the breed and to find information on how to care for them properly. Maybe I am in the minority, but I find these threads offensive and I do believe that if admin allows this type of conversation it should be put in a " safe " section away from children, or a disclaimer should be posted. Certainly not listed in BIG CAPITAL LETTERS ( as one is titled ) for inquisitive children to see and click on. Last, but not least. I have just as much right to a clean and healthy forum as you do to your " adult " one and last time I looked ..... this was a Yorkie Forum. |
I do understand your points, however if children are on this forum to look at pictures and gather yorkie information, I don't really see why they would be looking at an "off topic" thread. I have been a member here for quite sometime and very rarely enter the off topic threads. One thing I like to say is, "it may not be my cup of tea, but maybe another will enjoy it"!:) |
Well said Janie |
You are asking for censorship? Freedom of Speech, the first Amendment. You have over 203,230 Threads to pick from, and yet you are singling out a threat on the Off Topic Discussion. It was suggested that if you have a problem with one, write to Dear Admin, and request that if it off color it be deleted. Personally, it is my opinion, and mine only, that you are making too big of a deal out of it. I have not seen any kids post here. Maybe we all need a double secret password and handshake to get in here. I am not back in a Catholic Military School, not am I 10, nor am I dead. What's next, you want to take away my weapons and hunting priveledges? Let's be friends? |

Wanted to add... Parents SHOULD be monitoring what their children are doing on the internet ALWAYS....not that children should not be allowed on the "off topic", but if a thread is a bit risky, parents should intervene. Public television is out of control in my book, for children. |

We have had kids on here, usually their interest is in the Breeding section, waiting for the birth of puppies, or in the Nursery Section. Most are more interested in grooming, training, feeding and in general sharing their yorkie stories. We have had a couple of kids here that have created havoc; giving incorrect breeding advice.....those kids have been recognized for who they are and brought to light. |
Last time I looked there was not a " Moderator " written under your user name, yet you seem to think you are running the show. I have asked admins help to tone things down, or to develop an area for your type of humor that is away from young eyes and those that find it offensive. I did not single out just this one thread as there are many and they are growing by leaps and bounds daily. I am making a big deal of it because it is time for someone to make a big deal of it. This is a Yorkie Forum and most of us come here to learn and talk about our Yorkies. Yes, there is an off topic area, but I do not believe that it was ever intentionally set up to offend anyone.... until now. Oh .... trust me, you and I will never be friends. Quote:

This is what you choose to be shocked with? Oh my word.... The things I have seen posted here and this is what shocks you? Dead animals and obscene posts and this is what does it? Quote:

The last thing I want to do is force my opinion on anyone, but I do have the right to an opinion. Cloister or Nunnery? Again, I will reiterate, this is a Yorkie Forum, not an adult Forum, nor a hunting and gun Forum. Perhaps you got lost along the way???? Quote:

I don't think it's right to censor people per say, but, this is Admin's site. We are merely guests. It is up to Admin whether or not a thread is appropriate and welcome here. If you don't like what is being discussed, you're welcome to move on. If you're utterly disgusted, then you are welcome to report it. |
Parents who allow their kids to freely surf the net, are idiots. If they are looking for trouble or something dirty to look at, they arent going to click on a Yorkie Forum. I seriously doubt there are very many kids here & if they are, they are certainly not going to read through a 15 page sex thread. Even if they can read, they aren't going to go digging thru threads. I doubt they would come here in the first place because we all know the parent raises the yorkie, so why would they need to come here? You can google yorkies pictures and see thousands of pictures without even going to a site. They dont need or have to come here for pics. Lets not forget they have to "sign up". Keep in mind the OP who started that thread did so because she was looking for advice. What about sex between married people is nasty or dirty anyway? I think YT is is doing a good job in moderating the forum and think an Off Topic section is good enough. Parents who are worried about their kids on the net need to block their computers from un approved sites. The parenting should come from home, not yorkie talk. JMO |

That always bothered me. I love children, I love my niece & nephews, but I don't think everything has to be "kid" friendly or designed for them. Sometimes we just have to agree to disagree. I don't agree with a lot of things that I see, hear, etc..., but that doesn't mean I should tell others not to watch, listen, believe, etc. |
I have had computers in my home for about 15 yrs and when my kids were young they were monitored in our family room. If something was inappropriate I would know it. There are way worse things that kids can get into on plenty of other sites then a few jokes on YT about SEX  It's not just the few people who are getting a finger pointed at them that have made jokes on this forum with a sexual nature. Not that long ago I found a very funny thread about a Yorkie with a full erection. Some of the comments on that thread were NOT "G" rated and the picture of the little guy was  Excuse me if I am not correct but don't member need to be over 14 yrs old? My daughter is 14 going on 15 and would be totally uninterested in what a bunch of "old" women are talking about. There are sexual innuendos all over TV going back years. When I was a kid I didn't get half of what was doing said on the Flintstones but when I got older-yep the cartoon was full of them. Making a few jokes is not over the line IMHO. :) |
First, I completely understand the concept of being concerned with what our children are able to see on the internet. My 6 y.o. niece, who I have A LOT, loves to use the computer and YouTube is one of her favorite sites, AFV episodes. This is why she ONLY uses the laptop when I am in the same room with her. I feel it is MY job to monitor what she sees, not moderators of the websites. As many have said Off Topic Discussions means just that, off topic. The description says -For non-Yorkie discussions. I have not read the thread that has been referred to in this one, but I GUARANTEE the YT off topic discussion fourm is not the most "adult" rated site out there. OP, I understand your concern, and I can only say if I was a part of a website I felt so uncomfortable with I would not be a part of it. You say this is a Yorkie Forum, and it is, but the off topic section does not apply to Yorkies. That is just how it is. |
If Admin thinks we are posting something inappropriate they will adjust the post. Again, this is an open Forum. I really dont think it was nice for you to say you wont ever be friends with someone that has done nothing to you. I am sorry you feel that way and I hope you can get past this and come share some fun and laughter. |
Here is one of the threads that I was referring to. It not only have a picture but the posts are filled with sexual innuendos and hysterically funny. I suggest that anyone who found the SEX thread offensive get any eyeball full of this picture and all of the comments. If you take a look you will notice it dates back to 2006 . :) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...-lipstick.html |
I for one think shodan has crossed the line so many times its not funny anymore. Hes posted pics of dogs saying they are his and they are of someone elses dogs. He continuously posts the hog killing pics, how many times do we have to see these pics. he posted them back in Feb in a Biewer and Parti thread which had nothing to do with hog killing. Last time I looked at the title of this forum It said YORKIETALK. |

How to conduct a breeding. Posting UTubes on pups been born.....after all isn't the bitch's (yes the word bitch too) vaginal canal visable for all to see. The bitch nursing pups; yep her teets are visable too. A discussion went on yesterday, again, about a boys "lipstick" (which I find difficult to stomach, because we aren't using the correct terms, why? do find describing body parts by their correct terms distasteful?), being stuck. I would think allowing a young person reading those threads a little bit more of a concern. |
I hope I have not offended anyone and if I did I am sorry. |
Are you serious? You are going to compare this to what was posted here ? http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/3171199-post175.html This is a Yorkie Forum .... If that isn't crossing a line ! Quote:

As far as Steve posting pics of Hogs, if you find them offensive don't read them. He didn't post a pic of a dog that was his and if someone got their facts straight and visited another forum/list. He was conversing with the owner of a dog that looked like Carlo. It does appear people do have a vendetta out for Steve. He has apologized on several occassions, but some just don't know how to let it go and it's become a contest to some people. How childish when people feel that because one takes up for a person on a vulnerable day (yes, the BD of the daughter he lost in a car accident 14 years ago), feel it's more about you like him more than you like me.....It's very visible, you don't have to be the sharpest knife in the drawer to see it. No one has bashed this person, as implied on the said thread. |
