| This is a bit past the 60's and even contains a clue... Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waitin' for a train And I's feelin' near as faded as my jeans Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained It rode us all the way into New Orleans I pulled my harpoon out of my dirty red bandana I's playin' soft while Bobby sang the blues, yeah Windshield wipers slappin' time, I's holdin' Bobby's hand in mine We sang every song that driver knew, yeah

| Dang...Tom Paxton I remember the first time I heard it ... was driving up to Aspen..from Boulder (my brother went to college there) and we were all in the back drinking wine and it came on and everyone in the car went nuts...I remember years later trying to track it down on a record and had a little trouble but I have it on my IPod now...great song to sing along with... P.S. I don't drink in cars anymore...

| Lots of good music from the 60's....the days of 45s's and one hit wonders. My fav early 60's bands were the Dave Clark 5, The Animals and The Rolling Stones. Hey, Cindy, your road trip sounds like some I've been on. Was that wine Boone's farm? I remember one trip we took to N.O. and the guy driving had his car set up with a record player. He didn't like what was on the radio..... so we jammed to Canned Heat and The Chambers Brothers on the way over.

I am so thrilled I have found so much of this music on ITunes..and I just love it. God I love ROAD TRIPS...man all you needed was a toothbrush and about $20..and you could travel around the world, have a blast and never get in trouble.. If the cops pulled you over all they did was empty the liquids...and tell you to go right home...lucky we are all alive today...

| Alex Chilton, the lead singer for The Box Tops, died back in March. I liked those guys, too. Ripple was usually the second choice here. Boone's farm was a little cheaper and had more flavors. Our road trips were usually to New Orleans. Back in the day, you could get anything to drink there at 16. Somehow, we survived it all, no one got hurt and we had a blast. Our usual weekend would be to go to the National Forest just north of town and hang out at the river. We'd sometimes camp out in the Spring or Fall when it wasn't so buggy.
