Need a new washer and dryer -suggestions
 
Our washer died :( and dryer is same age and our dishwasher died a month ago -ugghhhh

any suggestions as I am totally confused on what to get

we looked at maytag 5000 with steam and the LG with sanitation wash

we wash wee wee pads and dee dee has allergies so want to get something that will help with that mainly

I know everything revolves around the dogs in this house lollllll

so help !!!!!!! what should i get as we need to make a decision quickly as we have no washer the motor burned out probably from washing the wee wee pads twice a day lollll

I would be very careful about Maytag. The comany was sold several years ago and the quality of Maytags has gone down hill. I bought a top of the line stackable Maytag several years ago and it is a big time LEMON. And when you start looking be sure to find out who actually manufacturers the machine - get a model ## and come home and check out the reviews of the specific model you are considering.

I agree with Chattiesmom, Maytag isn't what it used to be. If I were looking for machines today, I would definitely go with a different brand.

Unfortunately, I don't have any recommendations.

I also say to stay away from GE front loads. Hate mine. Smelly wrinkly clothes.

this is so interesting as someone told me last night at home depot they are horrible as she bought one three years ago and it has to be serviced every month and the company is horrible to deal with so they are done and bought an LG from home depot last night and the guy at home depot said he only sells teh LG as the company is great at customer service and he does not have anyone coming back complaining like with GE and MAYTAG

I have a Kenmore frontloader...and i absolutely love it. Our last Kenmore lasted us 14 yrs!! I couldnt even complain when it died...it really served its purpose. I've had alot of Kenmore products and they all seem to last a long time. I know its so hard to pick out appliances..good luck!

I personally like whirlpool. I would stay away from the front loader washers. They always smell moldy. I like the traditional top load washer. I also would recommend a gas dryer if you can go this route.....clothes dry much faster.

thanks what model do you have ?

i hate getting appliances :( it has been years since i bought any as the washer and dryer came with home we bought 7 years ago and before that bought appliances 7 years prior to that so has been 14 years lol - wow are things different lolll

we have gas so will be doing the gas dryer

interesting as they said on the front loaders you have to wipe last wash of the day and keep open to air out after that last wash for that reason and i was wondering does vinegar and water help to keep that mold issue down?

i'm not really sure what model it is..but its the Energy Star...it has the digital settings. It doesnt have any added features like the steam or anything like that. But i can tell you definitely save alot on water with the frontloaders cause they dont use as much water. My mom did my laundry once when i was sick and she even commented on how whites the white load came out. Oh and you have to use HE(high efficiency) detergent with it...otherwise it leaves soap suds in your wash. I learned that from experience too..although it said it right in the instructions (duh!)

If you get it at Best Buy you could always buy the extended warranty with it..that way you know you at least get a certain number of years out of it. We do that with our giant screen tv's.

Your pic is sooooooooo adorable!!!!! I had to comment on that pic first and foremost!

Ok, now on to the washer/dryer. I'm kind of partial to GE Profile appliances.... they seem to be durable, work well and stand up to the test of time. I know this washer looks kind of funny, stand alone, but with the matching dryer it looks nice together GE Profile Harmony? ENERGY STAR® 4.0 IEC Cu. Ft. King-size Capacity High Efficiency Washer | WPGT9360EWW | GE Appliances

Also top load washers now as just as efficient with water as front load ones. At least thats what Ive head from a bunch of sales people

yeah we did that with our 61" and so glad as the color wheel went out the first year and would have cost us $2500 yikes so now we get that extended warranty for sure on some items this being one - anything with moving parts lol -

i heard it does make the close cleaner and uses less soap - we use costco hypoallergenic for dd having allergies and i saw yesterday it said HE so that is great one less thing to worry about

he said use 1 tablespoon only of detergent is all you need even for the larger loads and heard less water use which is great as we have a pool lolllll so less water sounds good to me lol - he laughed as it is just the two of us and the dogs and i told him we wash 2 loads a day of wee wee pads and he was shocked said that is alot of washing lollll no wonder we burned out our motor on our washer it was smoking

ok thanks does it not have the agitator as do not want the agitator any more :( as heard it damages your close - yet have used it for years lolllll

thanks glad you liked the pic ;) can you only imagine how many i had to take to get that shot lollllll thank God for digital cameras lol

isn't whirlpool the owner of maytag and kenmore ? Just curious as our appliance part guy said whirlpool, maytag or kenmore and that lady at home depot scared me about maytag now :(

we had GE washer before

I'm so glad you said this. People are always saying you should get the front loading machines and I HATE HATE them. My sister has one. Not only does it take a long time to wash I feel like the clothes totally smell and are very wrinkly as well. I would NEVER get a front loading machine. Traditional washing machines are so much better. Apparently you NEED water to wash clothes lol
