We bought the Maytag front loader washer and dryer and have them on pedestals. I don't like them at all!!! It vibrates so bad it sounds like a helicopter is landing in my house and the washer walks across the floor everytime I use it. Another big dislike it with the water level. While they save on water you cannot adjust the level and because of that all of my clothes come out with dog hair still all over them. Yuck, I never had that problem with my top loader. At least it clean dog hair but I have better things to do than pick dog hair off of everything. | I'm feelin' you there! Quote:

ok here is another question
the dryer is a gas we have now and it works but there are some chips on the door so a little rust and i am sure it was bought at the same time as the washer so should i go for it and buy washer and dryer or just washer? | Whirlpool Duet Sport: Yuk!
Stinky clothes: bc HE detergent is 'green' so it's made with no or little scent, and you use less.
And the hair gets knotted up and sticks to everything. I used to get mad at my cat!
Must leave washer door open to dry between loads or overnight or bad mold smell, so I'm fighting with cats contantly!. I do a bleachy white load either every other or every second load. Has a 'clean washer' cycle that I haven't used yet.
Biggest thing I miss: soaking whites in bleach water. Has a soak cycle, but
doesn't dispense bleach until wash cycle.
Sounds and feels like you live on the train tracks with jets flying overhead during spin cycle. Spins really fast, except with heavy jeans loads (when you need it most!). Can only wash 4 pair size 46-48 mens jeans, more will not get clean.
So you use less dryer time as most clothes are spun dry in the washer. I quit using liquid softener bc it ruins washers and adds to the mold problem.
I use dryer softener sheets bc they make the stuck on hair and UFT (unidentified fuzzie things) smell better. It does not make then go away. I am now a leading authority on lint brushes.
The washer is not listed as Energy Star compliant, bc the idiots who designed it screwed up. When you power it up, it defaults to hot or warm water for all cycles, so if you want cold you have to change that setting for each and every load.
The dryer has a cheapo plastic door clasp (now broken) but dryer still works if you tape the door shut! |
