Has anyone gotten the new mac ipad yet? I'm about to get one and would love to know what you think if you already have one! I have an iPhone and MacBook pro and know that the ipad is like a giant iPhone (with a few new features) but think it will be easier to read books and be on YT and facebook than using the iPhone for those things! Excited about it but would love to hear from anyone who has one now! Thanks!:D

My brother & sister-n-law both bought one and I was looking at it on Easter.
Reading books on it looks great! I also liked how light it was, so it's easy to take around. Also would be great for watching movies in the car, plane, etc..
It would definitely be easier on the eyes vs the iPhone!
They plan on buying them for some of their employees for word processing, scheduling, etc.. It's more convenient then a laptop!
My other brother is waiting for the 3G version that comes out later this month.
Overall, I was impressed and it has an attractive price!

I'm going to get one too, they are not yet for sale here in Canada but rumour is they are going to be near the end of this month. Yay!!

I was reading a mac forum and some have gotten theirs iPads and there is dead pixels on the screens, so take a good look to make sure your screen does not have any. One guy said he went through 3 before the 4th one had no dead pixels.

Well, it's more convenient than a laptop depending on what you need to do with it. As far as I understand, it doesn't have a full operating system... the internet will work exactly as it does on the iphone and ipod touch.. it doesn't support flash so some websites wouldn't work as they should. Personally, since I don't travel much or read books much, I wouldn't use it very often.

On a different note, has anyone seen this video?


What the...? At first, I just thought he didn't like Apple products and was trying to make a point, but no.... they love Apple, they just thought it would be fun! HUH??? :confused::confused:

They better be glad they aren't my sons, because if they were and I saw this video I'd slap some sense into them! :mad: What in the world are people raising these days? I don't care if it was their money spent and yes we have freedom of speech and such here in America, but some forms of expression are stupid and worthless.

On a lighter note...I want an IPad but I'll wait for the next generation when it comes with improvements ;)

My husband and oldest son have them. It is great for them. My husband is a CPA and he has to carry a computer all the time and this is lighter and faster than his air. My son is in medical school and it has a lot of apps for his use. They love them. I know #2 son wants one for law school, but #3 son doesn't want one for college just uses his macbook. I guess its just personal preference.

It is not getting good reviews, everyone is saying it is slow. I say wait a few months, they will improve them.

I was one of the first people to have an iPhone and I'm on the next gen iPhone and not a ton is different other than the addition of the video cam! I also have a MacBook pro and tend to lean towards my iPhone to get on YT or any other really quick jaunt on the Internet instead of dragging out the laptop (how sad is that when a laptop seems to hard to break out! LOL. Lame I know!) but the problem with the iPhone is that it's small so I'm always pinching to enlarge! Hoping the ipad will be the perfect size! I'm excited about my ipad...hoping to have it as an early mother's day present for a trip we are taking next weekend! I'm a super girlie girl who loves my yorkies, couture fashion, make-up, jewelry and anything techie (so not like a girlie girl I know)...mainly mac stuff!! LOVE MAC!! Thanks for the opinions!! :-)

So can I synch everything on my mac onto the ipad and it would be like I'm on my mac but on the ipad? Also can you print from it?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think it has a USB port for like a zip drive would be like the MacBook air I think and you could email yourself documents etc but does have pages and numbers which is like windows office on a mac. They did put in a system so you can input all your pictures directly from a memory card or the camera! I don't think the idea is to be a mini lap top. I think the idea is more for quick use, and they just made a really jazzed up version of a kimble since apple didn't have anything competing in that market! I'm sure it will get better and better with the new versions that come out! I have a wifi access card so I don't need the 3G version...excited to get it! Mac is seriously some of the easiest stuff I've ever used! My MacBook pro is like the bentley of computers and didn't take hours of tutorials to figure out! Tons of common sense! They are the best computers (don't yell at me if you are a PC person...it's my opinion only and I'm not going to change that opinion so don't even bother trying! LOL!) it's amazing technology!

Don't think you can print from it either! If you have a MacBook or any regular laptop or PC you wouldn't need to! You can go to apple.com and get a full tour of how everything works and the different features it has! Warning: it will make you want one asap!! The price point is super attractive too...like $500 (or round about for the non 3G version...$800 for the 3G version but if you have a wifi card you don't need the 3G.)

From what I've seen, I think most of us here agree with you :) My husband has been a Mac user since he was a teenager (he's 28 now) and almost bought stock in them back in 2004 before we met... but he didn't. :thumbdown LOL. He has a macbook pro and I have a regular macbook. He even worked at the Apple store for awhile.

I am a total Apple product freak-- but this iPad just seems pretty useless to me.... I've got my iPhone (which is pretty much the SAME as the ipad, but in a smaller package) and my Macbook Pro and my 80GB ipod. Why on EARTH would I need an "iPad?" (which, I also think is a dumb name by the way... it reminds me of a maxipad or something, lmao!) Eh, I dunno, just seems like a pretty useless product to me. I'm sure they'll get better each new version that comes out but for now...no thanks!

Hi I'm a PC. :p Seriously though, I wouldn't give up my Toshiba laptop for any Mac products. I find the Apple computers and other stuff so freakin hard to use, crazy huh? Like you have to learn a new language or something. And you know what, I had a Mac for years!!!!! I had one at work, and I had one at home. It's such a preference thing. Plus, my boys (brothers) are such gamers and a Mac just doesn't keep up with them. I don't know anything about that, but eh, I really don't care. :D

I will say that there is one thing I LOVE LOVE LOVE about the ipod touch. That app thingy where you shake it and it gives you restaurants to choose from. I find the noise it makes so funny and I play with it for hours. I swear I'm a two year old stuck in the body of a 24 year old, I'm so easily amused. :rolleyes: Unfortunately my love for the app isn't enough of a reason for me to fork over money for an ipod touch. Especially when playing with boyfriend's is free. :D

I do find the Ipad interesting though. It makes those book reader thingys obsolete, and it really is like a giant ipod touch right? I just wish they would have given it a different name. Ipad makes me think of sanitary pads. :eek:

I should have kept reading. At least I know I'm not alone!!! I honestly think the ipad (tee he he) is aimed for the male population. You know how they like gadgets and gizmos.

Definitely excited about the ipad! We have Mac's in the house as well and love them.

I preordered the ipad, but have not gotten it yet as I ordered the wifi-3G, which is not out yet.

I heard that they might have issues with the wifi connection not being able to tolerate long-distance connections, (when you are out of range) and I needed mine to be able to connect via the cellular network while I am traveling.
Soooooooo.........I sit here and wait patiently while everyone else has thiers....:(:rolleyes:

From what I've been told "The Nook" from Barnes & Nobles is better! I'm thinking about getting a kindle. I'd have to really see what the iPad could do over the Kindle or Nook before I bought it.

This is pretty much what I had heard. Underwhelmed I think it was and that is from a hardcore Mac person. Love Macs here, but doesn't sound worth it.

Which is EXACTLY why I'm getting an iPad. I don't know about you but it drives me freakin' crazy to read a web site with small print on the iphone. Of course you can expand it, but then you have to scroll back and forth, up and down, etc. I do love my iphone, wouldn't trade it for anything, but am looking forward to being able to be on the web and not have to read such tiny print! So, to each his own, I can't imagine why on EARTH you WOULDN'T want an iPad!
