Looked at it tonight at the apple store and I'm a pretty big mac freak and it looked amazing to me! Pretty excited to get one!!

If I'm home, I use my laptop and if I'm out, I use my phone. It is a pain to view websites on the iphone/ipod touch, I agree but I don't really browse the internet while I'm out anyway. I might use it to look something up quickly but that's it. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Apple products, my hubby made sure to turn me into an Apple freak when we first met in 2004. LOL. I just don't get the ipad but maybe I would change my mind if I used one.

I think the ipad is just one of those things you learn to think of as a necessity. Like internet browsing on the phone, do you really need it??? I use to have it on my phone and I swore I could never live without it. I gave it up 4 years ago and really, I don't need it. It was really handy, and I really enjoyed having it. I think the ipad falls withing the same category. Besides, isn't the same size as a macbook? (as big as a macbook, with the capacity of an ipod touch?) So the convenience factor really isn't there. I couldn't justify having a macbook, ipod touch, iphone, and a ipad. I would minimize to a ipod, laptop, and my phone.

No, it's not the same size as a Macbook.
It's less than 10" high/8"wide & only weighs 1.5lbs
I think it's handy for people who travel or are out and about a lot.
It's great for movies, book reading, gaming & word processing on the go. The size & weight compared to the Macbook is one of the nice features about it. It's very portable and half the cost!

Well I did it, I ordered the 32 GB IPad with 3G.

It really started out very innocent, I went to the Mall (that is where the innocence ends) and walked directly into the Apple Store and there it was..all shiny and pretty begging me to try it. I tried everything, games, GPS, Books, Magazines, Newspapers, Internet - it was lovely.

Best part is the 3G service plan is month to month meaning I will only need to buy it when I travel.

I know people will ask me what I am going to use this for, I need to practice my response. For now only the people on Yorkie Talk know I did this.

My Macbook won't fit in my purse - the iPad will fit easily! So, there's another reason for me to want it and get it. I DO browse the internet while I'm out and about, all the time - the iPad will greatly increase my enjoyment!

Yep, and fitting into my purse is a BIG plus!!!

What about those mini laptops? I don't think Mac makes them. They do more and cost less.

HP Mini Netbooks
My cousin got a mini laptop for her birthday and she loves it. It fit in her purse along with other things, but she ended up getting a seperate carrier for it because she didn't want it to get scratched. I'd worry about scratching the screen of the iPad.
Oh, and don't think that because I have a PC I'm trying to defend them. Not at all! I do love my Toshiba, and I understand everyone has different needs when it comes to laptops and other electronics. I would have posted a link to a Mac mini laptop but I couldn't find one.

Well, I was referring to the "I can't imagine why on EARTH you WOULDN'T want an iPad!" part. I personally, wouldn't want an iPad because I don't use the internet much while I'm out, but when I do I use my phone. When I'm at home, I use my laptop. However, I think a lot of people would get a lot of use out of theirs, like you or people who have a lot of use for the various apps like business people and medical professionals. I just don't think this product appeals to as many people as, say, the iphone did.

Very true, it doesn't appeal to everyone, nor does everyone need or want one. But I do - so when someone says, "Why on EARTH would I want one", well there are lots of people who would want one for many reasons. And no, a mini netbook wouldn't work, I don't do PC - only mac. And yes, I have a mac laptop, but don't want to carry it in my purse, too heavy and does more than I need, and no, the iPad won't get scratched in my purse silly, I'll get a case for it!

Ha you got me there! :D Like I said, I would have posted a link to a mini apple notebook but they don't make one. I realize that people have preferences for brands, and I like to go against trends.:p Yes, I'm weird. When I was buying a car, every girl had a mini or a VW beetle. There is nothing wrong with either car, in fact I really like the Mini. Instead I got two "boy" cars, an Acura RSX Type S (stolen) and a Honda Civic Si. Both times we went out on the lot the salesperson approached my brother and said, "I see you have your eye on the 6 speed. Chicks are really into guys with powerful cars." That just made me laugh!!! Anyway, going back on topic, big but to my "against the trend" feeling, if the mac met my every need, then I'd suck it up and get one. I'd just put a decorative cover to make mine unique.;)

DH and I tried them out at the Best Buy last weekend. I was not impressed. They seemed to navigate kinda slow. I also did not likd the idea of having to hold it all the time. Like now my laptop is resting on my lap. This thing had to be held, otherwise it was flat instead of angled for easy viewing.
I have no idea if it has accessories that may take care of this. There may be something it can rest in, anyone know?

You can buy a case that makes it sit up....

iPad Case - Apple Store (U.S.)

I'm sure other companies will also be making more cases and accessories soon as well.

Oh yeah, that was the other problem I had with them when they were first introduced. Even if I had it in that case and was using on my lap (like the last picture), I would still have to be looking down. I had neck surgery after a car accident when I was 21 and it kills my neck if I am looking down or looking up for long periods of time. However, again, that's just a problem for me and not for everyone.

And yes it may be totally unnecessary but really I suffered through three years of law school... a shiny, unnecessary object is totally what I need right now, :p

I am SOOOO excited to get it.

Yes, we are a Mac family as well! We have one PC left that is on it's last legs and then we will be 100% complete in the Apple world! :D
My brother in Seattle is a computer genius and he gets EVERY new product that comes out, he's like a kid at Christmas time! I don't think he sleeps the night before something is to be released! :p

Congrats!!! :) I am graduating in May with my BSBA. I have bought a grad present for myself every year! LMAO! Last year I got a blue diamond ring in Jamaica ... it was an 'early grad present' .... this year a new Honda Accord, fully loaded, 'early grad present', a week after my graduation is a cruise to Bermuda 'real grad present'. Not to mention any other thing I spend 'too much' money on in the last 3 years has been 'an early grad present'! LOL

Each year so far I have gotten a yorkie... but I treated myself to those... this present is going to be from my parents and they think I am insane enough with these two so there is no way they would continue that trend. :rolleyes:

Sitting here typing on my brand new iPad...which btw this is my 400th post in my first month on YT...and I gotta say this thing is the bomb! It's everything I hoped and more and so fast! Much faster than doing anything online from the iPhone and extremely user friendly! Hope those of you who were interested get one because it's so worth it!

I have had mine for a couple of weeks now and I really love it... there is so much to do on it... I have even downloaded and read some books, played games, watched movies, etc... I am really happy with it. :)

I received my IPad on Monday and I am kind of obsessed with it, so much fun. Last night Sophie Kate and I played the free Mahjong game for hours (I played, she watched). We also downloaded a free music keyboard application, I was playing the piano on my IPad (not very good but I was playing).

Manolo regarding your Wifi password, it is the password to your wireless router correct? I had to get into the Admin function of my router and get the password, if you are not comfortable doing that I would call Verizon.

Well it looks like us in Canada won't be able to get their iPads in stores till the end of May. :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown it was supposed to be at the end of April. :mad:

But we are used to this crappy treatment from Apple.
