Ipad!!!

Looked at it tonight at the apple store and I'm a pretty big mac freak and it looked amazing to me! Pretty excited to get one!!

That's what my Macbook is for Sorry, I know this was a reply to Britster but my thinking is exactly the same as hers. I just don't think I would use it all the much. If I'm home, I use my laptop and if I'm out, I use my phone. It is a pain to view websites on the iphone/ipod touch, I agree but I don't really browse the internet while I'm out anyway. I might use it to look something up quickly but that's it. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Apple products, my hubby made sure to turn me into an Apple freak when we first met in 2004. LOL. I just don't get the ipad but maybe I would change my mind if I used one.

I think the ipad is just one of those things you learn to think of as a necessity. Like internet browsing on the phone, do you really need it??? I use to have it on my phone and I swore I could never live without it. I gave it up 4 years ago and really, I don't need it. It was really handy, and I really enjoyed having it. I think the ipad falls withing the same category. Besides, isn't the same size as a macbook? (as big as a macbook, with the capacity of an ipod touch?) So the convenience factor really isn't there. I couldn't justify having a macbook, ipod touch, iphone, and a ipad. I would minimize to a ipod, laptop, and my phone.

No, it's not the same size as a Macbook.
It's less than 10" high/8"wide & only weighs 1.5lbs
I think it's handy for people who travel or are out and about a lot.
It's great for movies, book reading, gaming & word processing on the go. The size & weight compared to the Macbook is one of the nice features about it. It's very portable and half the cost!

Well I did it, I ordered the 32 GB IPad with 3G.

It really started out very innocent, I went to the Mall (that is where the innocence ends) and walked directly into the Apple Store and there it was..all shiny and pretty begging me to try it. I tried everything, games, GPS, Books, Magazines, Newspapers, Internet - it was lovely.

Best part is the 3G service plan is month to month meaning I will only need to buy it when I travel.

I know people will ask me what I am going to use this for, I need to practice my response. For now only the people on Yorkie Talk know I did this.

My Macbook won't fit in my purse - the iPad will fit easily! So, there's another reason for me to want it and get it. I DO browse the internet while I'm out and about, all the time - the iPad will greatly increase my enjoyment!

What about those mini laptops? I don't think Mac makes them. They do more and cost less.

My cousin got a mini laptop for her birthday and she loves it. It fit in her purse along with other things, but she ended up getting a seperate carrier for it because she didn't want it to get scratched. I'd worry about scratching the screen of the iPad.
Oh, and don't think that because I have a PC I'm trying to defend them. Not at all! I do love my Toshiba, and I understand everyone has different needs when it comes to laptops and other electronics. I would have posted a link to a Mac mini laptop but I couldn't find one.

Well, I was referring to the "I can't imagine why on EARTH you WOULDN'T want an iPad!" part. I personally, wouldn't want an iPad because I don't use the internet much while I'm out, but when I do I use my phone. When I'm at home, I use my laptop. Very true, it doesn't appeal to everyone, nor does everyone need or want one. But I do - so when someone says, "Why on EARTH would I want one", well there are lots of people who would want one for many reasons. And no, a mini netbook wouldn't work, I don't do PC - only mac. And yes, I have a mac laptop, but don't want to carry it in my purse, too heavy and does more than I need, and no, the iPad won't get scratched in my purse silly, I'll get a case for it!

Ha you got me there! Like I said, I would have posted a link to a mini apple notebook but they don't make one. I realize that people have preferences for brands, and I like to go against trends. Yes, I'm weird. When I was buying a car, every girl had a mini or a VW beetle. There is nothing wrong with either car, in fact I really like the Mini. Instead I got two "boy" cars, an Acura RSX Type S (stolen) and a Honda Civic Si. Both times we went out on the lot the salesperson approached my brother and said, "I see you have your eye on the 6 speed. Chicks are really into guys with powerful cars." That just made me laugh!!! Anyway, going back on topic, big but to my "against the trend" feeling, if the mac met my every need, then I'd suck it up and get one. I'd just put a decorative cover to make mine unique.

DH and I tried them out at the Best Buy last weekend. I was not impressed. They seemed to navigate kinda slow. I also did not likd the idea of having to hold it all the time. Like now my laptop is resting on my lap. This thing had to be held, otherwise it was flat instead of angled for easy viewing.
I have no idea if it has accessories that may take care of this. There may be something it can rest in, anyone know?

You can buy a case that makes it sit up....

Oh yeah, that was the other problem I had with them when they were first introduced. Even if I had it in that case and was using on my lap (like the last picture), I would still have to be looking down. I had neck surgery after a car accident when I was 21 and it kills my neck if I am looking down or looking up for long periods of time. However, again, that's just a problem for me and not for everyone.
