BF took Vicks dogs and rehabilitated them and they have been placed into educated pet homes. So for the person who said all fighting Pits have to be put down it is simply not true. Here is also a place where people can go and real about BSL to learn about it.

It's funny how some yorkie lovers preach about teaching the truth about teacups, tinies..... but have no problem saying and spreading false things about other breeds. I used to believe this too until I spent many hours researching to learn the truth, I hope others do the same.

Breeze - you are correct - "Pit Bull" is an umbrella term, and I guess I assumed most people knew this, but maybe they don't...?

This statement is hard to believe, really, in any kind of percentage, that is.
I am sure a few may have been mistaken but all in all a pit bull is just that,
a pit bull and the majority of people know what they look like. Even those
dogs that are mixed with this type of dog, they just stand out.
No way can a rottie, spaniel, boxer, lab, etc be identified as one.
I know lot's of people love them and have them as family members but
it remains, they are a dog to be weary of because of the damage they can
do. I don't hate any dog, I have two pits as neighbors, I stay away because
I fear them. It is what it is. Just from reading about attacks makes you
fear them. It's human to have fear from things that can harm you.

In my experience having both owned a boxer and a couple of Rotties, is many many people think they are pits. It was rare to go for a walk and have someone not comment about my "pits". I also used to belong to a couple of boxer forums, a common thread is how often boxers are mistaken for pits.

Lets play this game here again, it's been posted before. All of the dog breeds in this are mistaken for pits.

Another thing to think about is how many posts here at YT do we see posters talking about people asking them what type of dog they have, even yesterdays thread about the vet receptionist? Yorkies are the top third breed and yet many people can't tell what they are.

Looking at that I see only 3 possibilies of pits. The three I never even
heard of! They look exatally like one so it could be easy to make a mistake.
However, if one of them did do damage, IMO, they would no different
than the pit bull.

I found him. THere is so much Bandog greeding now between Pits and Neo, Pits and Corso, Pits and Presa, Pits and Boxers, Pits and Rotties, Pits and Fila's, Pits and Dogo's, Pits and bulldogs, Pits and Bull Mastiffs, Pits and English mastiffs, etc, they are now much bigger and have much heavier. The Old time Pits used to weigh 40-50 pounds. Now you see Giants called Pits that are over 100 pounds and heads the size of a Watermelon.

I disagree. Most fighting pitts do indeed have to be put down. Those dogs were placed in special homes, I am sure not with other animals.
The problem is not with humans really, but other animals, most fighting pitts can't be rehabilitated . If you have special people who know how to handle them and have the time then yes, but not all states *probably none* have funding for that. I think with Vick's dogs they just got more attention than a regular fighting pitt would and the people that can take them in and handle them came forward, believe me it's not the norm.
Where I am from, New York, there is no money for all the fighting pitts to have all the attention and training Vick's dogs are getting, those dogs of Vicks can't be trusted around other animals, I don't care what anyone says, they cant.
Just my opinion , my eyes have seen a lot regarding these poor animals.
