I have long nail beds so a light or a nude color makes my nails look out of place or my fingers longer than they are. My fingers are skinny as it is so I don't need to make them look freakishly long, which is why I use such dark colors. I'm still searching for the right shade of dark red or deep plum.

Maybe since you have long fingernails paint them whatever color you like and polish your toes with a nice nude color or a french tip manicure.

Oh lucky you, I love the way a long nail bed looks, you can have short nails, and still paint your nails. You are right, dark colors look great with hands like yours, and it seems like lately, I've seen so many black, and dark purple nails even on the red carpet!

Mine MUST match,

I usually do a black or dark purple for everyday.... but will do something more fun like pink if I am going away in the summer... it seems more "beachy"

So I agree with the old rule!!
I get mine done and this is what I do. If I use a color I on my toes I will do french or the same color on my finger nails. If I do a french on my toes than I do a color on my finger nails.

I'll add my 2 cents - I never do my nails anymore (spent years in the salon and don't miss it) but always do my toenails - I wear open toe shoes all the time and even if I didn't - I can't stand the look of my feet without polish - I like funky colors but never do black....it would probably drive me nuts every time I looked down

I have not gotten a manicure in *forever*. I actually have never gotten a pedicure because I hate my feet!! I have a problem with people looking at them and touching them, ha. But I do wear flip flops in the summer so I try to keep them nice looking even without polish. I do need to get a manicure soon... I just go for the massage! No but really dirty nails bother me, I hate when they are yucky looking. I can never keep them long though so I keep them short.

I say no they don't have to match. Sometimes I will match mine but other times I don't but I use colors that compliment each other. Like if I do my nails cream or something then i'll do my toenails like a dark red..idk lol Celebrities don't always match on the red carpet..but if they use one strong color on their hands or feet then they do a lighter color vice versa

Back in the old days...I'm nearly 48,You were supposed to match but now i think you can do whatever! I like to do my nails(acrylic tips) in a pink & white,very conservative! But on my toes i do something kinda wild like navy blue or purple or red! OPI makes a color called "Russian Navy" that i love! It gives me a little charge to know my toes are a little out there! my nails are always perfect! I can't stand it when they need a fill in! But the rest of me looks like a bag lady!! I'm at that salon every two weeks without fail. It makes me feel better about myself...and leaving the 12 and 2 year old kids home with hubby isn't bad either! Gimme my Starbucks,venti iced,skinny,cinnamon dolce,3 splenda latte and i'm good to go!!

I cannot stand anyone touching my feet either!! I do have the nail lady paint them because it is so much easier than doing it myself. They always ask me why don't i get a pedicure and i say that i don't like my feet being touched, and they say well, i'm touching them now! And i say, Yeah, and i don't like it!!! Yep, dirty nails are yucky! Especially on toddlers & small kids! I am obsessive about cleaning my 2 yro daughter's fingernails! She will probably grow up to have a nail phobia or something!!

I probably am missing out. I really don't pay much attention to famous people. Like, my favorite band is Nirvana and I didn't know who they were until 6 years ago, and then 3 years after that I found out Kirk Cobain died. I live in LALA land where there are no celebrities. Obama is lucky I know who he is.
