Good / Favorite Book & Author Recommendations?

I'm 19, so i really enjoy reading Sarah Shepard, Meg Cabot and Sarah Dessen. They mainly write books for young adults. Although, right now i'm reading Sarah Palin's book. It's a very good book once you get into it. I am not much into politics but her book incorporates real life experiences w/ her political experiences so it's a good read for me.

Love this thread - I am a voracious reader.

I recently discovered Adriana Trigiani’ work, I am reading Very Valentine and love it. The sequel Brava, Valentine was released this month and I look forward to reading that as well. It has a very Under The Tuscan Sun meets Brothers and Sisters feel to it. I feel like I have boarded an Alitalia flight and I am headed to Italy that is how vivid the images are in this book.

One of the best books that I read last year was The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein - this book is a treasure. I still listen to it on audiobook that is how much I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED that story.

As for The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch what a poignant and delicate reminder to live life.

I enjoyed Going Rogue as well even though I do think that it she could have communicated her message in 100 less pages.

Totally agree. The woman does alot of unnecessary rambling.

my all time favorite book is a knight in shinning armour..by jude deveraux (sp?) i have ready 5 times at least and never get bored with it

Yes, yes, yes...Adriana Trigiani. I know her....great girl...great books. Her Big Stone Gap books are awesome. I used to live in Big Stone where she grew up in the 70s. Love Her!

What are some of your favorites?

I recently read The Shack. Thought provoking. I generally like intrigue and mystery, but will try other genres. The only things I will not read are horror / sci fi or vampire stuff.

I've read almost every Michael Connelly, David Baldacci book out there. Some of Tom Clancy. A lot of Grisham, but I think his style is lacking in some sophistication with the later stuff. Like Dan Brown, and have read a few others like him.

I'm not past the racy stuff either. There was an oldie but goodie on the community book shelf in my condo - Harold Robbins Goodbye Janette. I grabbed it thinking I may give it another read.

I just heard about The Widow Clicquot - and since I'm a Veuve drinker I think I may have find this one.

Sooooo what's on your must read list?

The Shack is on my list of books to read. I've heard many wonderful things about this book.

Her books sound intriguing, will have to check them out! I like reading trilogies that way if you really like it when you finish one you know you are not quite done with the story

Also, I read, The Lovely Bones and Lucky by Alice Sebold. Must warn you that they are very intense and disturbing and are definitely going to make you cry but I couldn't stop listening to them. I download the books on ITunes and listen on my I Touch or in the car.

I did read The Last Lecture, enjoyed it tremendously. Can not imagine how difficult that must have been for him to write. Have not read any Alice Sebold, will look into it. Not sure about the intensity, tho thanks for the forewarning

James Patterson has several good ones too.

Have not read Sparks yet, but I know The Notebook has been on best seller lists. Have read quite a bit of James Patterson - love him too!

Another good read...excellent story is The Perfect Day by Richard Evans. I have recommended it many times.

It was an amazing read. Word of advice, it is an emotional read.

I received it from friends when I was visiting them in Tulsa. With two plane rides home I decided to read it - my flight attendant actually stopped by twice to make sure I was ok - it was hard to keep my composure! Fortunately she had read the book, so when I showed her what I was reading she completely understood.

Sandra brown, Nora Roberts, Luanne Rice, Debbie Maccomber, Karen Kingsbury, And I just started a Jodi picoult book, very good read!!!! I have never read a bad book from any of these authors!! I also like the Stehanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich!! I love to read!!!!

The author worked at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston. He just talks about his cases and the struggles of both vets and owners (money, doing what's right, etc.).
