| Good / Favorite Book & Author Recommendations? I need to find something new to read Who do you read? Why? What are some of your favorites? I recently read The Shack. Thought provoking. I generally like intrigue and mystery, but will try other genres. The only things I will not read are horror / sci fi or vampire stuff. I've read almost every Michael Connelly, David Baldacci book out there. Some of Tom Clancy. A lot of Grisham, but I think his style is lacking in some sophistication with the later stuff. Like Dan Brown, and have read a few others like him. I'm not past the racy stuff either. There was an oldie but goodie on the community book shelf in my condo - Harold Robbins Goodbye Janette. I grabbed it thinking I may give it another read. I just heard about The Widow Clicquot - and since I'm a Veuve drinker I think I may have find this one. Sooooo what's on your must read list? | JUST finished Reading The Hunger Games and Catching Fire- by Suzanne Collines- these books are part of a trilogy- the last one is not out yet- i just finished the second one last night- edge of your SEAT amazing good books. They take place in the future when The Capitol controls the districts that people live in. Every year two children from each district are chosen to play in the Hunger Games- which is like the olympics with a twist- the whole thing is televised- and the one who lives- wins. GREAT books. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Okay...this is *not* a political post...but right now I'm reading The Politician (about John Edwards) - fascinating (and sad too) (and totally disheartening in terms of politics overall).

| I recently finished, The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. It was absolutely amazing. So inspirational. I t changed my life...sounds cliche but it taught me about enjoying the important things in life. Also, I read, The Lovely Bones and Lucky by Alice Sebold. Must warn you that they are very intense and disturbing and are definitely going to make you cry but I couldn't stop listening to them. I download the books on ITunes and listen on my I Touch or in the car.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh seriously. I saw him on Oprah - and I saw his entire video - I.N.C.R.E.D.I.B.L.E. He is one of the most inspiring, humble, amazing humans to grace the planet. Thank you for mentioning him. I cried for him. In good ways, in sad ways, but mostly - he just inspires me. What a loss...but his story, the fact he shared it with us, is such a gain.

| I absolutely LOVE Jodi Picoult. Amazing. My Sister's Keeper, The Tenth Circle, etc. Check out almost any of her books and I think you'll like them. A lot of true life, drama, court rooms, teenagers, family, etc.

I agree. My Sister's Keeper was deeply moving. A must read. I was extremely disappointed by the movie though.

| I don't know if I have the strength right now to watch those You Tube videos. It makes me so emotional! Thanks so much for finding these and I will muster up strength to view them soon. His story makes me look at life differently than I had before. I wish his wife would update us on how she's doing....and their little ones too.

| I rarely read for the fun of it (unless it's on the net) and I have, um, unique taste in books, but since you asked... I'm a vet med nerd, so the books I do read usually have that theme. My favorite is Tell Me Where It Hurts by Nick Trout.

| Karen Kingsbury...start with Redemption...you will be hooked. Nicolas Sparks-The Last Song is great and The Notebook is too. James Patterson has several good ones too.

| Hi, I love to read, but don't like anything too heavy. Recently I have been reading Joanne Fluke's Murder mysteries. She writes recipes into her murder books. I started with the Cream Puff Murder. I made one of the cookie recipes in the book too. Yum. Wow. I just finished the Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder. Can't wait to pick up the next one. Like I said, they are light murder stories, enjoyable. The characters are fun. Another good read...excellent story is The Perfect Day by Richard Evans. I have recommended it many times. Good reading!!!
