This is awful....

Lynn Middlebrooks Geter, 38, is charged with animal cruelty, child cruelty and battery
A woman is in jail after police say she forced her 12-year-old son to kill his pet hamster with a hammer as punishment for bad grades.
The sheriff of a rural Georgia county said that the boy told his teacher about the killing.
The teacher then reported it to state child welfare authorities, who in turn contacted police.
Lynn Middlebrooks Geter, 38, faces charges of animal cruelty, child cruelty and battery.

What is wrong with people. I just don't understand how someone could be so inhumane. This sub-human person deserves the worst punishment allowed by law.

I saw this on CNN on Friday...and just hit the roof. This woman needs to be jailed and her child taken from her immediately. This child needs desperate help, as I'm sure abuse has been occurring for years.

Agreed. What is up with mothers and killing pets lately ? That poor little boy - he's going to remember this for the rest of his life. WHY DO SOME PEOPLE EVEN HAVE KIDS ? They don't deserve them !

My oldest had a hampster for years and I can't tell you how much he cried when 'Andy' went to heaven

OMG Thank goodness the teacher reported it! Why the heck is wrong with people?! So sad to think of what else this little boy has witnessed at her hands.

Thats a * disgrace! Maybe if the boy mother would had helped the boy with his homework then he would have been getting good grades! My son is a honor roll student...........and my daughter makes good grades. I just have too make sure that my daughter does her homework,because shes the type of child that won't do it, if she thinks that she can get away from not doing her homework...........but other than that its all good!

OMG! That is Sick! It breaks my heart for that boy.
I actually paid to have my daughters hamster euthinized bc it had a large tumor growing out its side. We took it to the vet and he said she was suffering, and that we could let nature take its course and I could not watch this poor thing suffer. We made the decision together not to let it suffer. She was my daughters beloved pet at the time and it was like she lost her best friend.
SHAME on that Mother!!!!

I just want to hug that boy... poor kid. People who do these types of things are very abusive and controlling, This woman should not be raising children. She should be locked up.

Now that's parenting skillz!

Sick! My son had a pet hamster too and he loved that little guy so much. When he died we buried it in the back yard complete with funeral. He put him in a little box and covered him with a handkerchief. When we put the "coffin" in the ground he reached in his pocket and threw some coins in there with him.
