I'm *pretty* sure my Charlie is half JRT and he is the sweetest dog I have ever met. Like someone else said, he is really the only dog I've seen that can handle Tobie's playfulness. Also, he is the ONLY dog that my parent's chihuahua likes. People love him, dogs love him.... He's a pretty popular guy. LOL. |

I like all breeds - each has a beauty in of their own but admit - I AM scared of pitts until I get to know them - my neighbor has one named 'Stink' and he's GINORMOUS - when I first met them and would be walking my girls - I'd always pick them up and go a different way. I got to know Chris who rescued him - then Stink and now I let him stand on his hind legs and kiss me. (Stink the dog - not Chris - though Chris is REALLY cute) He's such a good dog. He's as tall as me too :p I still pick up the girls though oh - edited to add - someone mentioned Chows - They DO scare me. I've never known one that didn't look like it wanted a piece of me - |
I'm not going to speak for the entire breed, but when I was a teenager my parents got me a dalmatian (this was when the movie came out and they were the "it" dog to have!). This was the most retarded dog I have ever met in my life! It didn't matter how much time and effort we spent trying to train this dog, he would do nothing but bite and snip at us (not in an angry way, but just playing) like that was the only way he knew how to play! It was so aggrevating and I was so upset because he was the first (and last) dog I ever had and I was so excited about getting him! It got to the point to where you better have on some old clothes that you hated when you went around him, because they were going to be destroyed! But, I hear storied that most of them are ridiculous like this! |
I tend to like all breeds but there are a few breeds that I would never own, I know I wouldn't be able to handle them. Chow chow is the only breed that I can think of that I don't really like. I've met a ton of chow chows and chow mixes and every one of them was mean. I know it's mostly not their fault though, I know the breed well and I know they take a more firm and very experienced owner to turn out right. My dad has a chow/golden retriever mix. She is sweet with me as I've known her since she was a puppy. But to any stranger she will immediately bite them. When they take her to the vet they have to sedate her and muzzle her because she is that aggressive. I have no idea how she turned out this way. They socialized her, did everything they were suppose to. |
I would never own a Lhasa. A Shih Tzu was developed from a Lhasa and peke, neither have a great temperment in general but of course, there are always exceptions. I am very cautios taking on knew grooming clients that are Lhasa's or Shih Tzus for that matter. |

I "DID NOT" like Yorkshire Terrier Before I have Sugar in my life, I always think Yorkshire Terrier is weird because of the long black hair...I didn't like it at all. The day I met Sugar I was thrilled and it was like "love at first sight", instantly I knew she's the one!! Sugar didn't look like baby Yorkshire terrier, she looked like a small teddy bear (HAHAHA, I have no idea but then I think all baby yorkies look like bear?). The lady told me she's a Yorkie and I was shocked. Initially I went there to check the Toy Poodle (was my favourite) but I just couldn't feel the love with the Toy Poodle I saw. I picked Sugar up, stared into her eyes... I didn't want to let her go and I MUST have her. AND NOW, I love every bits of her including the long hair, and my favourite breed now is Yorkshire Terrier!!! :D |

Ahhhhh, this is why I've been thinkin' that you're doing a good job of living up to your screen name "Miss Behavin" ;) Blunt can be good in a way. At least everyone knows exactly what you're thinking. My family is German. I can't speak any (except for a few swear words) |
There are only two breeds that I absolutely refuse to own: Jack Russell Terriers- I have a friend who owns one, and she is one the the most aggressive dogs I know. She chews rocks, and chases strangers down. She is known to attack and bit strangers... NOT something I want! Standard Poodles- I visit the dog park frequently, and they are far too obsessive for me. Every standard poodle that sees Couver cannot leave him alone. It frustrates me when I take him to the park and he cannot move around without a poodle in his face. I do not enjoy the look of the brachiocephalic dogs. I do not find them cute in any way :p |

I have a shih tzue/Yorkie mix and my sister had a full Shih tzue. both are fast as lightning and very very smart. I learned my baby trick after trick and she learned each trick with in minutes.mine runs so fast to the ground it runs circules around my house before we even know what happened lol I can tell mine to give me a kiss and it will come give me a kiss and knows the word hug, sit, lay, sown.sit pretty., come ( but will only come when shes in the house) learning her to come when out side, its getting better. the only thing I dont like in the shih tzue is the cotton hair.love the looks but mats very easy. I love all dogs and have had many breeds in my life time. they can all be smart when learned. |
I personally am not a fan of chihuahuas. I've met too many snappy mean chihuahuas!!! Plus I don't think they are that cute as they age. Idk just my opinion! |

I am not totally fond of chihuahuas because they are so yappy and I don't find them cute. I used to have a chorkie. He was very adorable (chihuahua body but yorkie appearance with a short coat), but he was SO clingy! I had to give him away because he cried SO LOUD when I'm at work that neighbors thought I was abusing him! I just never liked chihuahua after that...I don't dislike but I wouldn't want to own a pug, poodle, rottweiler, boxer, great dane, pekingnese, Japanese chin, Chinese crested, dalamatian, pomeranians (because one of my uncle had one and it always barked at me and tried to bite me! Also, all the ones I've seen are SUPER BARKY=DISLIKE!)...there's more but I can't think of anymore... |
I don't hate pitbulls, because I have known several that are bigger babies than my own dog and would probably make the worst guard dogs ever in terms of lack of aggressiveness...however, I HATE and ABSOLUTELY CANNOT STAND how it seems that, in South Florida, every other dog owner has AT LEAST one pitbull because by no means are that many people QUALIFIED to own and train that breed properly. There are several in our condo complex (we have a 40 lb weight limit) that absolutely scare the daylights out of me (especially when I'm walking little Stella), and one that poops next to our porch who I would LOVE to catch doing so at some point. Personally, I think it's cruel to have a dog that athletic and large in a condo that's only big enough for about 20 lbs of dog. Asking for trouble. One family that Stella & I walk past every day on our walk has TWO GIANT pitbulls...probably the biggest I've ever seen, definitely not to any breed standard. They always bark at us and jump up on the patio door and I'm scared one day they'll knock it off the track or something...OH and this family has a young infant. Just scary scary and unfair to those dogs. |
I hate Chihuahua's. My boyfriends mom has one and its the stupidest dog I have ever come in contact with. My dog doesn't even like her, she looks at me like "Can we please go back home" They are VERY yappy and unattractive I agree. They are ranked down there with the dumbest dogs, and I believe it 100 % |
Pit Bulls. I do not like pits at all. I have had 2 experiences with pits attacking my dog and my grandmas dog. |

I have to agree. Yorkies without their hair look like rats. Hence why they have their hair LOL |
I'm probably the only one in the world that really doesn't like Golden Retrievers. I know this is just from personal experience - I used to know someone who trained and raised show dogs. They were "obedience" trained and had ribbons but every time I would go visit, those dogs would jump up, get my clothes all dirty and just be awful. My doberman, who was a rescue pup, who was not officially trained, was much smarter and well mannered. I'm sure there are nicely trained Golden Retrievers but I haven't met one yet. Irish Setters are another breed but once again it is just because of the only one I met that used to attack me whenever I rode my bike at college. |

I hit 3000 posts! :cheer: |
Agreed on the Yorkies-look-like-Chi's thing...that was my exact thought the first time I gave Stella a bath. It's their little beard that saves the day! |

I have a loyal and sweet Shih Tzu named Daisy. My Shih Tzu loves to be spoiled and pampered like a princess. She has a laidback personality. She is not demanding; she patiently waits for my affection. She was the perfect dog for me to own when I was in college. My Shih Tzu is very smart. She loves to learn tricks for food rewards. She is the most obedient dog I have ever owned. Shih Tzus are one of my favorite breeds. I think Shih Tzus have one of the cutest faces. Everybody have their preferences on what type of dog they would like to own. I love all dogs, but I prefer to own dogs from the toy group. |
I think every breed has something special about them and something cute. I don't hate anyone or any animal and I wouldn't comment as I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I mean the last thing I would want to hear is someone things my breed of dog is ugly, I think that is mean.. JMO :) |
