| anyone have children that are EXTREMELY picky eaters??? My 8 year old daughter is the pickiest eater I have ever seen in my LIFE!!!!!! I swear...she won't eat anything besides rice, mashed potatoes and JUNK. I give her chicken and she finds something wrong with it. I fix steak and she complains. I can't get her to eat any vegetables, I can't get her to eat any fruit, I can't even get her to eat a very big variety of dessert. she doesn't like peanut butter jelly sandwiches...or ANY sandwich for that matter. You know...she won't even try stuff....I can beg her...bribe her...to try a bite of something and she will refuse. she will even cry about it. and I'm not asking her to eat anything weird....like liver or brussell sprouts...I'm talking about simple ordinary stuff like a brownie that has walnuts in it...or sweet potato...or beef stew. she just shuns it. it amazes me...and drives me completely nuts!!!!!!!! I refuse to make seperate dinners for her. she needs to learn to eat what I fix the family. any suggestions?????

| Ill share something with you , when my daughter was 8 I swear all she would eat was spagettios with meatballs, I took her to the pedi and he said worse thing that can happen is she will turn orange.. ( he was serious) . It lasted about 4 months and she started to like chicken nuggets and french fries for months that is all I fed her spagettios and chicken nuggets. She is 22 years old and honestly the pickiest eater ever, I feel sorry for her future husband. She hates any kind of meat, NO lunch meat EVER , and you know what she still orders chicken nuggets even if we go to a good restruant. She is now and always was a pain in the you know what. Now my youngest is 14 , she has hardly ever even eaten a cookie, she hates sweets, hates chocolate, hates cake, she eats all good food, she loves steak, all meat and has NO problem trying anything you put in front of her other then desserts. She has eaten squid, calamari, lobster, she even tried liver. I swear its just something they are born with because I dont cook or do anything different.. Its just a phase, just give in to her, dont get your self worked up. I dont know if you can get her to drink that V8 fruit juice, or juicy juice. Or V8 smoothies, those are good for her if she wont eat veggies or fruit.

YT 2000 Club Member | Boy do I know how frustrating having a Picky eater is! My #3 son who is 13 has always been a picky eater. He started off with problems when we started him on stage 2 baby food. He was born premature and they thought that maybe he had a sensory disorder because he was also picky about how things smelled and felt too. So his Early Intervention team started working with textures. They would dip the Gerber baby gum/ teeth brush in his baby food and roll it around so he got used to the feel of textures in his mouth, and it did nothing to help. As he got older we had to supplement him with Pediasure at our doctors orders. Lincoln does not eat Junk food either. He likes Raman Noodle soup, Chicken brest, Pasta in a non chunky sauce, corn, carrots and broccoli and Yogurt. We also cant buy milk at Meijers food store cause he says it taste funny, but milk from Krogers and Wall mart are fine He is very small for his age too, he is in a size 10 and will be 14 in April! We worry about his eating habits because it just seems like he don't eat! His Pediatrician advised us not to make an issue about his Picky food habit, cause it actually could make it worse! They talked about nutrition and how important a Balance diet is with him. They suggested that we should always offer him what the rest of the family is eating. If he choses not to have it then we always have the cooked chicken, soup or pasta for him and he reheats it up himself in the microwave. His Doctor said as long as he is eating something, he aint going to starve So that is what I do. You might want to bring it up with her doctor and maybe they can give suggestions for you and her that will help you out. Good Luck!!

| My pediatrician told me, picky kids come from panicky parents! lol i was a picky eater. now... just don't get in my way if I'm hungry! lol One of the things I remember disliking, was my food touching each other...EWWwww! Something I did like was dipping my food~! I used whole veggies (cooked or not), soft meat, to dip in whatever, baby food, sourcreme, ketchup, chip dip! lol anything! My daughter was fussy! She got over it, in time!

| i think they start to grow out of it about 10 years old. i don't know an 8 year old that isn't quite picky. We make a lot of seperate dinners but i always do it using the ingredients from the meal i'm making. Like leave some plain chicken out from the meal for them etc. |

| My oldest, will eat anything you put in front of him. I don't parent him any different than my younger son, who ranks really high on the picky eater list. I agree it must be something they are born with. Just within the last few weeks, I can bribe Garrett to try new things. Tonight, he tried Lasagna... but, I had to pick out the "meat". He could live on Chicken Nuggets. He does like a lot of vegatables, and fruit but beyond picky with meat. Thanks for this thread, I often feel like I am the only one with a picky eater! It helps to know there are others out there that are going thru the same thing!

Donating YT 11K Club Member | Well I can tell you that i was the pickiest eater when i was little. BUT i would ALWAYS eat my vegetables because of how my mom prepared them. I would even request veggies as if they were snacks. She used to put lemon and salt on all of them to give them flavor....but you can also put other things on them like peanut butter, etc. whatever your daughter likes to make her eat them.

| nearly 14 years old and STILL picky My daughter will be 14 in January and extremely picky. We have also talked to her peditrician about her eating habits. She likes chicken nuggests. She even orders them at the nicest seaford resturants. We had to beg her to go with the family to Olive Garden last week. You would think she would like Olive Garden because pasta is the one thin that she will eat. We even joke about her being the Carb Queen. We try not to make a big deal about it but I told her that her favorite food groups were cheese, chocolate, and pasta. She eat peas like they are pills. She has to put them on her napkin to dry off and then pops them in her mouth and promptly take a drink of water. Tina
