Thor's Human Donating Member | ![]() I loveLoveLOVE my Ambien! However, it IS habit forming, and if you haven't tried other methods to control your insomnia, you should try those first. There are a lot of things you can do. You might want to talk to a sleep specialist first - it may simply be that you don't need very much sleep, and can reduce the number of hours you spend trying to sleep. Insomnia can also be caused by an irregular schedule, exercise too close to bedtime, etc. One easy tip: only use your bed for sleep and sex. If you can't sleep, get up, and go to another room to read, or another quiet activity. There are also a number of natural sleep aids, such as melatonin, which are not habit-forming, and much cheaper. Just some food for thought. |

| ![]() My mom took it and did crazy things.. she would sit up and start talking to me in a full on convo and wouldn't remember anything. It worked wonders for her though... after my brother died, her and my stepdad were a mess so it helped a ton during that time period. You're not supposed to be on for long periods of time though and you can definitely get hooked. Also, not to be graphic, but my friend took it and had sex with her boyfriend and didn't even remember in the morning.

| ![]() I don't think Ambien is the answer for you. I think you may need something to relax you before you go to bed, and then something to keep your asleep, but he weary ofl what they prescribe for you. Always do your homework, and find out all the side effects. You'd be surprised at how many doctors prescribe drugs that not only have side effects, but can cause a condition you currently have to get worse.

Donating YT 11K Club Member | ![]() Thanks guys. I will ask my doctor if it sounds right for me. It sounds scary because of all the stories that I've heard of people doing things while on it and then not remembering at all!! That would freak me out. I would prob. want someone to be around me just in case i have a bad reaction or something..but i will talk to the doc and see what he says

| ![]() Without going into TOO much detail.. my DH was on it bc he had insomnia.. well in the middle of "adult time" he mumbled something about "Are we out of the forest yet?" and he moved the pillows to the side.. I then asked him what the heck he was talking about because I was completely weirded out and the mood had been killed.. he grinned from ear to ear and it was like he wasnt even himself. He woke up the next day and told me that he was hallucinating that he was in a forest and that the reason he grinned afterwards was because he realized how silly he sounded once he stopped halucinating... weird stuff .. psssh.... and I thought I was just that good ![]()

| ![]() I sleep so well at home..but sometimes when traveling I cannot fall asleep in a strange room, bed, etc..tried Ambien twice. First time I got up while my husband was still awake and started to go out the hotel room to get dinner..not dressed either.. Second time, I got up middle of the night and woke my husband..told him I needed to go to the hospital, I needed surgery. Needless to say I am forbidden to go near it and it scared me silly. I bought a sound machine for hotel/motel stays and it works for me...sound of the ocean. Last edited by YorkieRose; 12-06-2009 at 06:14 PM. |

| ![]() I took Ambien ONE time...and vowed to never do it again! (Let me just say that I do not have a perscription for it--my father did at the time. I had gone through a 3 day stint without sleeping because of several days of on again/off again migraines and he gave me one.) Let me just reitterate...NEVER AGAIN. About 15 min after taking it, I was laying in bed, on the verge of being knocked out and remember thinking, "I feel funny." So I tried to life my head up...and couldn't! I honestly could not pick it up off the pillow...so then I panicked, and suddenly, for some reason, I thought that all of these people on bicycles tied together were chasing me. About that time, my husband rolled over and put his arm around me and from what I've been told, I started hitting him and yelling, "Get them away from me!" The next thing I knew, it was morning. ![]() He took it for years and would do all kinds of crazy stuff. One night he'd taken it, was already in bed and mom and I were outside talking. Suddenly, he comes out of the house, yells at us, jumps in his car (a brand new Jag, mind you) and takes off, running over the curb and over a bush in the process. Comes back home about 2 min later, gets out of the car and into the bed without saying a word. To this day, he refuses to believe that he ever did that. ![]() He also dumped a whole bottle of bath gel in the whirlpool tub one night. ![]() |

| ![]() I Take abien once in awhile.. It is addicting i must say.. My doctor wont give my anymore, but he gave me a prescription to lunesta,, that works too, only has 2 mg though.. When i take the ambien i usually cut it in half to get only 5 mg.. You really should take ambien as you lay down to sleep. I usually take it a half hour before, only cause i like to feel drowsy. Sometimes i cant make it to bed.. One time I found myself on the floor crawling and tried to make it into the bed.. It can be very very dangerous. A few times i took it cause i couldnt sleep, boyfriend problems and I guess i had called him and he said i would talk crazy to him.. I never remembered a thing i said to him.. Please ask your doctor before taking anything.. Try melatolin, its a natural herb, it can work also. |

| ![]() I am so blessed. My head hit's the pillow and I'm gone until Buddy want's to change sides during the night then back to sleep. I have always slept for 8hrs and when I don't I'm misreable. My heart goes out to all of you who have to rely on meds to get a decent nights sleep. Experiencing side effects like was mentioned here is truly scary. |
