I loveLoveLOVE my Ambien! However, it IS habit forming, and if you haven't tried other methods to control your insomnia, you should try those first. There are a lot of things you can do. You might want to talk to a sleep specialist first - it may simply be that you don't need very much sleep, and can reduce the number of hours you spend trying to sleep. Insomnia can also be caused by an irregular schedule, exercise too close to bedtime, etc. One easy tip: only use your bed for sleep and sex. If you can't sleep, get up, and go to another room to read, or another quiet activity.

There are also a number of natural sleep aids, such as melatonin, which are not habit-forming, and much cheaper. Just some food for thought.
