Donna, thank you and Yorkiekids for the Coast Guard suggestion. I will contact them tomorrow. I was told that you actually have to have a boat driver's license. I hope you don't have to parallel park.

If your Garmin gps has the capability of using chips, they are great! Not cheap but well worth the money. The chips are most up to date and they show everything, fish traps and all. I think you can program your trip on your laptop and then plug your laptop into your gps and that way you will have your hold trip uploaded. you can do it all comfortably rather than sitting in front of the gps.
