I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I never had seasonal allergies until I moved here. People are growing the plants that cause allergies, and because the air is so dry, the pollen is released in the air and flies around easily. In other places, where some pollen might land on a moist plant and stay there, in AZ, it finds my nose!

I've done the cost of living calculators you can find on certain websites. It's SHOCKING! House prices are 56% cheaper. Overall Scottsdale is 45% cheaper. (This will make up for the HIGH energy bills.) We have thought of renting, in order to stay in this area. But we have two dogs, which makes it difficult. Also, we want to roll the equity we have in our current home into another property. Luckily I've had the chance to visit the Scottsdale area many times. There is a lot that the area has to offer. For one thing, no fog!

| Ack! My head is spinning. I've been on the computer all day looking up places to live in AZ. I think the decision has pretty much been made to make the move to AZ. Does anybody have thoughts, opinions and/or advice on east Scottsdale and Fountain Hills?

| I am a California native and have lived here in AZ for the past 7 years. It took some getting used to but we now love it. I always laugh that California closed it's doors to us and we could never afford to live there again. San Francisco is one of the most beautiful cities and I would love to live there if we were millionaires! Housing here is so affordable and with all the extra money you save you can vacation often in Ca. We go back home whenever we get the chance. I live south of Tucson but would move to Scottsdale if given the chance. I love it there. So much to do! Good luck with your decision! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | There are good areas and bad areas of nearly every city, so don't just go too much on the name. I was under the impression that all of Scottsdale was nice, and it isn't. The area of Fountain Hills that I saw looked very nice, much like parts of Scottsdale.

| Luckily you have family in the area to guide you to the better areas. I would make a trip out to scout the area with the intent to buy in your mind. Visiting and living there are way different. I have enjoyed many visits to places I would never consider living. |

I do love Bay Area and perhaps once my husband "climbs the ladder" a bit we will venture back to CA. But for now our Arizona is our best chance to have a larger house, nice backyard and for me to be a stay at home mom.
