Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | 1st Bad Tragedy due to Rita There have been deaths on the freeways. There have been people stranded and needing gas and shelter - and there has been panic in Houston and parts of LA. We're all breathing better but still face a bad storm - but THIS story broke my heart this morning - A busload of elderly people from a Nursing Home leaving Houston were evacuating this morning at 5 am. Their Bus caught fire outside Dallas...and 24 people were killed....Only 14 people survived - Authorities said the bus apparently caught fire due to a mechanical problem, and that oxygen tanks inside the bus then started exploding from the severe heat of the fire. These poor people were just trying to get away from this hurricane and lost their lives in a terrible way - It's so sad. |

| That was heartbreaking .... first news I saw this AM when I turned the TV on! If I didn't misunderstand a report that I heard this evening, they would've probably been safe had they stayed in their nursing home. How could anyone know .... I'm sure they were just trying to keep them safe by evacuation. Also heard that an elderly person died in all that traffic on the interstate. I hope everyone can get out of the way of that thing before it comes ashore!! Vette ... I believe I have to agree with your decision to "Shelter in place"!!

Donating YT 14K Club Member | It's absolutely horrible. Those poor people. I just hope they didn't suffer. It really is tragic the horrors that these people are going to just to try and escape.

| That was the saddest thing! They suffered. At least, the majority probably did. Burning to death is a horrible death. To me, it's so sad to reach your golden years and die a horrible death like that.
