| For those who have shipped a puppy, please help me Hi ladies, Well I'm not getting my male yorkie but instead my hubby will be getting a Boxer puppy from his brother in Texas. They had their last litter and it's the only chance my hubby had at getting one, cuz he knows I'm not big on big dogs. Anyway. We are wanting to get him here asap, he's 8 wks old and is getting his 8wk shots today. Can someone who has shipped a puppy give me the break down on what we need to do to get him here. I know we need a vet cert and a kennel. What I need to know is the steps on booking the flight(who to call, #). I've looked at the AA site, and I'm pretty sure he'd be shipped via Parcel Priority Service, correct. I've read the page on shipping live animals. I need to know step by step so I can let my brother in law know...neither of us has ever shipped an animal. Right now neither of us can go out there to get him or else we would. and my good friend cant bring him to us...so this is our only option right now. Thanks DaniBelle |

| I had Coco shipped to me from oaklahoma. The breeder had to provide a health certificate to the airlines, from the vet certifying that the pup was healthy. She also had to present the vaccination papers, showing that she was up to date on her shots. Of course the crate, if there are any papers on the puppy, and your information because when you pick him up, they will check your ID. I hope that helps.

| Shipping Personally I would not ship. I can't imagine the trauma a poor puppy in the cargo area would endure. I flew return same day and picked up my Buddy. This way he was able to fly in the cabin with me at my feet. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | you're best bet is to call the airlines yourself and find out what documentations they need. Yes, they'll need the health cert. and shot records and airline approved kennel. how long does the pup need to fly???

| Yes I would call the airlines and also make sure to ask about cargo vs. flying in the plane itself. I would have raised hell if the breeder flew coco in cargo..the stewardesses took real good care of her, plus she was sooooo tiny and the cargo area isn't pressurized, so the weather in there can get extremely hot or cold. Small dogs should not be shipped in cargo, well no dogs should be but especially our little sensitive babies.
