Donating YT 7000 Club Member | What kind of spider is this?? This guy is perched right outside the house next to the back door. I'm not going to bother him if he's just some regular spider, cause I think he's kinda pretty (even though I HAAATE spiders). but if he's suspicious, he's gotta go. These were the best pictures I could get. He kinda blends into the green backround. Including his legs, he's a bit smaller than a quarter. He's neon green and he's got some black stripes and white dots. and his web his pretty big and in layers, if that means anything. I feel like he's crawling all over me after looking at these pictures for a few seconds haha.

| Ah it's just a harmless Garden Spider. They are pretty aren't they? I would just let it be, it won't hurt you.

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | LOL Twalla and Vicky! can I get the opinion of someone who doesn't want the entire spider population massacred?

| ok maybe it isn't. At first glance I thought it was black and yellow. Most likely still harmless. I am more scared of the ones that hide and nest, not the orb weavers. If it doesn't have a red hourglass on it and isn't a wolf spider or brown recluse, I wouldn't worry. Of course you probably aren't in michigan, so I don't know what kind of venomous spiders you have there, lol.

| Ack!!! I'm not really scared of spiders, but I have been bit a few times, and it was awful. My rule of thumb is, if they have a big butt, they gotta go. Also when they make those perfectly big beautiful webs, they mean business. You don't see harmless daddy long legs with webs like that!

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | We have brown recluse spiders but aren't they brown? haha. I need a spider identification book. and no way in heck am I getting close enough to him to see a red hour glass! Are they a problem if they're bright colors? I know with frogs you're not supposed to touch them if they're neon/bright colors. haha. Does it mean the same thing for spiders? ETA: ^^thanks! yeah. He's got a pretty big butt. and so true about the webs! haha. Still don't want to kill him though. *sigh* Any more thoughts, folks?

| I have a rule: if it's outside the house, and it isn't venomous, it gets to live. If it's in the house, I would rather it go back outside, but sometimes one of the kids will smack it (or dh ) or I might even out of freaking out that it was on me and I didn't know it.

| Here in NZ we call them an Orb spider as they have a orb shaped body, they change colours with their surrounding, a harmless creature but I hate spiders all the same, if he was in my house he'd be sprayed if outside I just leave them as they get rid of pest insects

| Big butts and big webs are nothing to worry about. Especially with the garden spider. Their webs can be HUGE and so are their butts Argiope aurantia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I like your rule. I also have a rule. if it's inside the house, it dies. If it's oustide the house, I wait until it bothers me enough to kill it. OR if I find out it's harmless before it's experation date, he gets to live.
