A friend asked me out before, just a friend and he always paid. Movies, Dinner, whatever... he always paid. He also held open all the doors, let me through the door, car door, carried my stuff, etc.

Now, every now and then when I would just go to his house to play WII or what have you... I'd would say, hey want me to pick up something to eat? Then I would pay bc I was picking it up and it was MY offer.

IMO, there is nothing wrong with a woman paying time to time but if he asks her out and its "new" then its expected that he be paying.

I always paid my own way until it was kinda officially dating b/c I never wanted to have any kinda strings attached or anything else to feel guilty about if I cut it short...plus I am REALLY independent and kinda of a CONTROL FREAK when it comes to my life! Yeah I know it stinks and I should probably get therapy but DH has accepted it as just being part of me and DD has no choice but to accept it until she turns 18 and gets her own place!

This is funny, because even though I have been married 10 years and my husband and I pool our money, we still say, "Let's go out...I'm paying." We both say this, and the other one acts like he/she is getting a free meal. It's dumb, but kind of fun.
