What does everyone do for a living? Random question - just curious. What does everyone do for a living? I'm exploring my options right now and would just like some ideas and if people enjoy their careers, etc. Currently, I'm in my 2nd year at comm. college. I design websites on the side, along with dog-sitting. This summer, I will be working the front desk at a local pool. I'm interested in working with dogs, but my only issue with that is the money... I'd like to make a decent living and I've considered wanting to be a trainer but the demand would have to be high in need for dog trainers and I'm not so sure where to even begin. College/school is rough for me... I really just get by. Although, I managed to get an A in my Intro to Psych class. :) I'm very interested in Psychology but am unsure if job opportunities are there for simply a BA in Pysch, as I really don't want to continue on to get my masters. I think I SHOULD have my BA degree but I'm struggling with the concept of 3 or more years of school (considering I'm slow and already 2 credits behind... lol) I keep going back and forth between the medical field as well and possibly getting a two year degree in X-ray technician or a Radiation therapist or tech. But anyways... what does everyone do for a living? Do you have your degree? |
corporate relations ~ it sucks , but the money is good |
Dog groomer-love it! I was an xray tech for many many years and decided I needed a change. Never looked back. Found a great groomer who offered apprenticeship and the rest if history!:D |
I got a BS in Elementary Ed Minors in Math and Political Science. Masters in Instructional Leadership which is a principalship (or any administrative position) What am I doing now? UGH Gotta love this freakin' economy. I'm a substitute teacher b/c there are NO OPENINGS.... so yeah. So I do that, tutor here and there. Degrees don't always mean a job.... ;) |
I'm a full time college student and a sales associate @ Justice. I am majoring in pharmacy, so hopefully one day I can come on here and say I'm a Pharmacist. :) Just the thought of it makes me smile. |
4 Attachment(s) I design and create dance costumes. Unfortunately, it's very seasonal work, so I'm thiking about moving into doggie duds. Here's some of my work. |
Well I'm not there yet but I'm doing my pre-req's for the Nursing program. If I don't end up in nursing, I know I'll be doing something in the medical field. Oh and if you were interested in Psychology and wanting to be a therapist you have to have your MA. My psych teacher just explained everything about that on our last day. It's hard to go to school and sometimes it not for everyone but in the end it's worth it. |

Also, I MAY have messaged you before but I don't remember, lol... where are you a groomer? I'd love to have a fellow YT member groom Jackson... I'm just not good at the grooming stuff. lol. However, training and dog psychology are definitely up my alley. I really think it'd be such a fulfilling career to have my own dog training facility one day with maybe some boarding or doggie day care or something. But, I really don't know where to begin. Yikes! Anyways, if you don't want to post your location in the public, could you PM me your place? I'd love to try it out if it's not too far. |

I'm the assistant county librarian for our 2-county library system. I used to be a library director, but enjoy this job more. I have a wide variety of duties and don't have to deal with the public. LOL ;) |
During the week I am a full time domestic engineer. I also dabble in taxi services. I have at times been known as an excellent chef but my favorite job during the week is the head warden and emotional stabilizer for the younger members of my workforce. On the weekends I work as a server at Red Lobster. |

Corporate Accountant, for a restaurant group. 14 corporate owned and 1 franchise restaurant. Glorified for doing ewhatever the CFO doesn't want to do. Excellent pay, I have great hours except at year end. Been doing this for ever it seems. Good luck in your search. |
i work at a small local vet office with 4 drs in a small town in alabama have been there 2 years and get way to easily attached to the animals that come through there!! |
Personal Banker, pay decent, decent hours except that I work in an in store bank and we are open 7 days a week. I would transfer to a traditional branch, but I live 2 minutes away from work driving and 5 minutes walking. I'm also taking classes to become a vet tech. Drastic change? yes, but I'm a big animal lover. Chikis and Jerome's Vet knows I'm going to school, so he's told me that once I finish my degree to let him know so that I can join his staff. I think that is nice of him.:) |
I was a Veternary Assisstant for 3 years, But, burnt out when my son passed away. Had no real desire to do anythng! Then I became an Activities Director and started College working for my Recreational Therapist Degree. I never finished it because my first Daughter arrived from South Korea in 1986. Then in 1992 my second Daughter arrived from South Korea. In there I volunteered @ our local Animal Shelter for 3 years and also in 1987 I started volunteering with the Sertoma Club of Lancaster as the Co-Chairman of the Naturalization Day Committee and plan the Luncheon that follows the ceremony. It is held @ a local Elk's Club and soon we are moving to the New Convention Center in downtown Lancaster. We help people that are becoming New Citizens by greeting them @ the Courthouse and pinning a flower on them that will get them in the Courthouse on the day that they're sworn in. Then we host a Luncheon that features local Goverment Officials. The Mayor of Lancaster City, !- County Commissioner, 1- City Council member, The Judge that swore them in,The Representitive from Immigration and Naturalization Services comes up from Philadelphia for that day plus the Sertoma Club President, a Clergy Person{From different religions in the area}. The Luncheon is free to the American Citizen courtesy of the club. We have 5 Ceremonies a year and approx. 70 citizens done @ a time. I got involved when my oldest Daughter became a Citizen @ 14 months. My husbands Aunt started this tradition 63 years ago with another Civic Group and 27 years ago the Sertoma Club took over. We also have music provided by Sertoma Members that we call "The Sertoma Singers" who are all gentleman in their 60's-90's and are members of the club. The wife of one of the members plays my Portable organ/piano and they sing songs to entertain everyone during the Luncheon. At the end of the Luncheon we take a group photo and I send pics to those who forgot their cameras. It is a very fulfilling wonderful day and I get to share such a wonderful memory with peiple from all over the world. I have helped over 1700 people become American Citizens and have enjoyed every moment with them. Even after the day is done they will see me out @ stores and come up and thank me for what I did. I thank them for letting me be a tiny little part of their BIG DAY!! I have Volunteered my time doing this for the last 22 years!! So, Other than that I am supported both Physically and Emotionally by my Loving and Caring Husband of 30 years as of May 5th...:flirt::wink2: Sorry this is so long...:D |
I have a daycare in my home. I have children from the ages of 8 wks to 2 yrs. old. I have degrees in Early Childhood Education and Child Psychology. I have been called a "Jane" of all trades, which means I have done so many things in my lifetime to try and find myself that I could do just about anything! I have been a hair stylist. I am also Certified as a Wedding/Events Planner and had my own company for 5 yrs. I also make and designed wedding cakes and I am a Master Floral designer too. I was also a pivate Duty Nurse while I was in College and have done that a few times through the years just to make ends meet. I was in Mortgage Lending for 10 yrs...and the list goes on! I guess what I am trying to get across to you is that you are young and have so much life ahead of you. Do what interests you, not what others want you to do. Invent yourself! Have fun and if you don't succeed at one thing don't beat yourself up and never give up on finding what makes you happy. At this point in my life, I want to do Dog Grooming! I just may get real serious about it once the economy calms down a little. I have a fabulous income with what I am doing now and I love, love, love, what I am doing and I can be home with Daisy Mae all day too. Hang in there and best of luck to you, ~Kathy:animal-pa |
