| Severe weather in Oklahoma We have a moderate chance for severe weather and tornadoes tonight Hope they stay away from my house! I'm also hoping they stay away until after 9 because my favorite shows are on tonight and I don't want the news cutting in. lol. Has anyone here ever been in a tornado before? I've lived in Oklahoma my entire life and I've never seen (with my own eyes) a tornado or been in one. Hmmm... I better knock on wood!

| I love storms too (as long as I'm home and not driving in it) but I don't like the tornadoes! I live in Yukon and as far as I know, Yukon has never had a tornado before.... well, wait.... we did have a freak tornado pop up, I think it was lasted year, but it wasn't very strong at all...only last a minute and didn't do much damage.

| Be safe, my brother called me. He is in Tulsa (he stays there part time) and said that the news was saying "Its going to be the worse storm they've seen". Yikes! Be careful

| Oh gosh, they just said on the news that a part of the storm they are really watching is going to be headed towards Yukon. I'm so hoping that no tornadoes form.

| I lived in Oklahoma for 35 years. My dad was the fire chief for a very small town in western OK - so he had to storm watch and come into town and blow the fire whistle - to let everyone know bad weather was coming. This was way before the good tracking we have from radar and the like. So, I've spent many a night in the car on the hill outside of town with my mom and dad "storm watching". I've only seen 3 tornadoes in the daylight and they are VERY SCARY! I've spent MANY evenings/nights in the storm cellar! My husband's son lives in Moore and his home has been hit twice by tornadoes!!!

| Oh yes, the infamous Moore tornado on May 3rd (can't remember the year). That tornado was heading right towards my town so all of my family went to the Moose Lodge because they have a storm cellar there. Fortunately, it turned and went right in between Yukon and a town called El Reno. Moore was hit the worst though... went drove down there to see the destruction and it was unbelievable. You see pictures of places after a tornado but it's nothing like seeing it for yourself. Fortunately, the storms tonight ended up not being so bad... I think there was only one tornado.

They use the same sirens here for fires... can you imagine my first thought when we moved up here and I heard that damn siren go off?

| I hope I didn't speak too soon! The storms are past me but poor Moore is under a tornado warning! That town does get hit a lot. I just looked it up, it was '98 and there were 66 tornadoes that day but only one of them was an F5 and that's the one that hit Moore.

| I thought it was that one. I remember how scary it was and how wild the skies looked after it had passed. My aunt lives in Moore... hoping they are spared.

| Yes, it was in 1998. My sister-in-law was driving south on I35. She was almost to Moore when the weather got so bad she stopped at the Love's station on 89th street. She went in and everyone got into the freezer. The tornado passed over I35 just a couple of miles south. Then she couldn't get on home to Norman because I35 was torn up and she couldn't call her husband because the cell service was down and he couldn't call her. It was horrible! My husband's aunt and uncle had just sold their house that was in one of the additions almost completely destroyed by that storm. Their old house was still standing but had to be completely rebuilt. My husband's son's house was on the edge of that addition, so it was only damaged, not completely destroyed. His house was hit again in 2003 (I think that was the year) and actually had more damage then, than in 1998. We used the sirens for fires too - but the cadences were different - short bursts for bad weather - long tones for fires. Hey, Canton lake is only about 35 miles from my home town - Taloga!

| I have fond memories of Canton Lake.. every summer! When I first moved up here I didn't hear about tornados hitting up here like they do now... course, it takes them a few days to "determine" if it was a tornado.. I just giggle to myself and each time say, they wouldn't need but 2 minutes to determine this in Ok..
