Yes, it was in 1998. My sister-in-law was driving south on I35. She was almost to Moore when the weather got so bad she stopped at the Love's station on 89th street. She went in and everyone got into the freezer. The tornado passed over I35 just a couple of miles south. Then she couldn't get on home to Norman because I35 was torn up and she couldn't call her husband because the cell service was down and he couldn't call her. It was horrible!

My husband's aunt and uncle had just sold their house that was in one of the additions almost completely destroyed by that storm. Their old house was still standing but had to be completely rebuilt. My husband's son's house was on the edge of that addition, so it was only damaged, not completely destroyed. His house was hit again in 2003 (I think that was the year) and actually had more damage then, than in 1998.

We used the sirens for fires too - but the cadences were different - short bursts for bad weather - long tones for fires.

Hey, Canton lake is only about 35 miles from my home town - Taloga!
