| I can't wait to give blood. I can't until June 5... counting down the days. I got a tattoo on the 4th of June and you have to wait 12 months. It hurts a little... and I always get cold but it's worth it. The last time I tried donating my iron was too low. They suggested a bunch of foods and supplements if I really wanna give blood. Once I can start donating again I plan on every 8 weeks, it's a great thing to do and they're always calling because their short on my blood type.

| My blood pressure is too low Plus I am not sure, but now with the Lupus and all the other autoimmune issues, I don't know if I could even if by some fluke I developed a normal blood pressure. I am O- too (which can be a PITA when you have babies, esp when your husband is A+) so it would be nice if I could.

| hehe i lie about my weight so i can give blood. now i know lying is bad but i have a pretty rare blood type too (B positive) and i feel it is better to fib a little than not donate i do not do it as much as i would like to because my veins are really small and unless the tech is really good, they will (1) not even bother trying or (2) miss and then fish around with the needle at which point i tell them to stop because it DOES hurt when they do this it does sting when they put the needle in but really, it is not that bad. just do not stand up too quickly afterwards. it hurts more than getting blood drawn at the doctors (i think because of the size of the needle?) but less than getting dental work done lol

| It's a great thing to do!! And it will definately be worth it! I've had many, many transfusions in my 16 years of life so far. And will probably have more in the years to come... But when I get blood taken at the doctor's (which is a lot... Once a month for now, was every two weeks, and before that two-three times a week ) it doesn't hurt that bad. Yeah, the pinch hurts, and if they fish around that hurts, too... But it isn't so bad, you get used to it. Since I have Wegener's Granulomatosis, a rare-rare autoimmune disease (normally rare, but even rare-er in kids), the doctors have to watch my blood levels constantly. I probably won't be able to give blood ever. Not that I really wanted to anyway! lol

| Oh! Forgot to add... My dad gives blood all the time! He has to wait so many days in between, and when he can he gives as soon as he can! He also has hairy arms, and says that when it's time to pull the band-aid off that it hurts worse than the needle.

| I think this is what they do: They stick a needle in each arm, and I think the blood comes out gets filtered and the rest goes back in, in the other needle... Not sure though...
