| ![]() That is such a good point! I was thinking about her when I saw promo ads for their new show. I had forgotten all about her and it hit me- how have I never even seen her? That really is proof that if you truly don't want the attention you won't get it. People are dissected by the media if they put themselves in the position to be dissected.

| ![]() Oh gosh, I could write a book on J & K and my opinions (and that's probably really sad, LOL). I used to love the show. I thought they seemed a pretty normal (besides the telivised to a national audience part) and the kids were just downright adorable. With a lot of the crap out on tv, I found it refreshing and sweet and I enjoyed their perks of the show (trips) and watching the kids have fun opportunities. Over time, I feel it's really turned into something entirely different. Maybe it's the fact that they've been on a few years now and regular viewers like myself can speculate on the way Jon and Kate are acting (sitting far apart on the couch, snapping more during interviews, ect) or maybe it's the fact that I think the "celebrity" status has definitely changed them. Kate has stated numerous places that she wants a talk show and likes being an author (although I don't believe she actually WROTE Multiple Bles8ings) and she likes doing the appearances and being in the spotlight. That is all fine and good if that's what she wants to do -- but the show used to be about a regular family, with extraordinary circumstances making it all work. Now IMO it's about a mother and possibly father who want to be celebrities and have celebrity carreers and the kids take a backseat to that even though they are the ones who have made the show so popular. I do wonder about the kids' lives and how it is to live under a microscope for the world to see without any say on if they want to do it or any real knowledge of how it'll be to have their entire families lives taped on down the road. I wonder how it is for the kids to be cared for mainly by a nanny and their dad while their mom is gone 1/2 the month. I remember TLC putting out a statement saying how wonderful this opportunity was that both parents could be stay at home, but with all the press, ect that Kate is doing it seems she's never there and doesn't know much of what's going on. I read somewhere they have body guards now and that just seems so scary to me really. The show makes me sad and I'm actually not watching the next season because I just have lost interest since the huge switch in content and I find myself put off by it after watching the new episodes. I do sometimes watch the earlier episodes and the other day they had a marathon and the difference in playfulness and love from the beginning of the show until now was SO evident -- it was just too sad. |
