oh Cindy!!! that is just BEAUTIFUL!!! I LOVE IT!!! and its nice to have the original

Ive been trying to get my hubby to buy me a new ring because after 3 years of wearing the ring I became allergic to white gold

so now Im wearing a fake sterling silver one until my hubby can get me a new ring...

Im allergic to white gold too and about once a week or two I have to take my rings off for a few days due to getting the odd rash. I wish the jewelers told us about the risks of white gold allergies before we spent a ton of money on them but then they would not recieved their commission off our sale. I thought gold was gold and yellow gold never gave me a problem.

And Chattiesmom, your new ring looks gorgeous! Congrats and I'm so glad you like it.

I like the way it turned out!!! I think it is really cool that you kept the old band and made it part of the new.

Since this thread caught my eye as I was looking for Cindy, I'll describe one of the prettiest necklaces I've ever seen made from wedding bands/rings.

I taught with a woman who was an only child and had been married but then divorced.

She had the jeweler make the most unique and gorgeous necklace. I hope I can describe it clearly enough for you to envision it. Imagine 3 circles, each inside the other....her father's ring was the outisde ring (wider band), setting inside that was her mother's ring, and inside that (smallest gold band...nice size diamond...LOL) was her engagement ring with the diamond and its setting bent so that it faced you rather than being on the surface of the band.

I'm not doing it justice I know but it was absolutely beautiful and such a tribute to her parents who were both deceased. There is no telling the amount of gold nor the actual age of her parent's rings. I do know that she's in her 60's.

The second most unusual ring I've ever seen was on a retired teacher who substituted at our school. She had her deceased husband's cuff links made into rings for their daughter and herself....absolutely gorgeous and if I'm not mistaken, the cufflinks were heirlooms handed down through the family for years.

Your idea for a ring sounds very pretty, too! I like one-of-a-kind jewelry especially with a sentimental story to go along with it.

That stinks... my husband is allergic to ALL metal except for titanium and we didn't know that before we bought our rings, so now he can't wear his white gold wedding ring... it was so pretty too... one day I'll get him a new titanium ring!

They did a fantastic job with it Cindy. Was the ring in the first picture cut off or something? My wedding band has a little hosreshoe cut out of it, where the diamond ring fits in to the hoursehoe part(if that makes sense), then it was welded together

My original ring (first two pics in the first post) was actually worn smack dab in two. I don't take off my wedding band - it has been off my finger no more than 1/2 dozen times in almost 28 years. The first time I got hung on a nail and hubby cut it off to save my finger with me sobbing, NO NO DON'T. The repair lasted over 15 years until the gold just wore thin. My active live has found me building houses, training horses, digging fence posts and the delicate little ring did the best it could.

I wouldn't let them weld my rings because I don't wear my diamond down to the barn anymore. I was mucking stalls once many years ago looked down at my ring and the center emerald diamond was dangling - held in place by only one prong - the other three had broken off. Because of that I am paranoid about losing it.

I've had to go to the jeweler and have mine cut off a few times, most of the times it's because I've gained, lost, gained, lost etc etc (weight). Well, about 4 years ago, I was laying in bed, the ring was catching on the sheets, which is not normal. I looked the next morning, and the diamond was gone. I was working at a school cafeteria at the time, never did find the diamond here or at school. I was devastated. Steve went out that year and bought me a new diamond for it for Christmas. Told him not too as I'm not a diamond person, but, he did out of the goodness of his heart. I do need to get it in again, as one of the prongs is messed up right now, and I sure don't want to lose another diamond
