| I found this: LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- It's no secret that "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell often shows no mercy toward aspiring singers. Quirky, tattooed contestant Megan Joy Corkrey discovered that Wednesday night during the elimination round on the popular singing competition. Megan Joy said she and Simon Cowell remain on good terms. Megan Joy, who dropped her last name, told Cowell that she "didn't really care" about his criticisms of her Tuesday night performance of Bob Marley's "Turn The Lights Down Low," which he described as "boring, indulgent and monotonous." Those comments sealed the 23-year-old single mother's fate. Host Ryan Seacrest asked Cowell if he would be using the "save" rule in Megan's case. Cowell demurred: "Megan, with the greatest respect, when you said that you don't care -- nor do we. So I'm not going to pretend that we're even going to contemplate saving you," replied Cowell. "I don't care that Simon didn't like that song," Joy said in an interview with CNN on Friday. "I truly didn't and I still don't. I still loved it, I sang it the way I wanted to." Despite all the bickering, Joy says that she and Cowell remain on good terms. After Wednesday's program, she says they both laughed and he told her that he enjoyed watching her. Furthermore, the self-described "dork" says her "American Idol" experience has opened new doors to her future. "Before all this competition, I thought I was just going to be a stay-at-home mom," Joy said. "Now, I am interested to see all sorts of different things I could possibly try and dabble. ... I'm excited to just see what's out there." http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/.element...ertisement.gif And those bizarre moments onstage Wednesday when she flapped her arms and quawked like a bird? Joy says that's just her personality. "I do a lot of sound effects all the time, bird noises, animal noises," she said. "Wednesday, I kind of had a feeling it was going to be me ... so I decided that I'm just going to be myself and be silly out there."

[quote] It blows my mind that someone would do that on national television and I think it's very disrespectful. She won't be easily forgotten, that's for sure.

| These are not my words but something I read the other day that I really like. "I think people underestimate the pressure these "kids" are under. I know they signed up for it and should be aware of what they are getting into but obviously some of them don't. They are worked to the bone- every day is scheduled and regimented with no thought of down time or relaxation. Just witness last year when each week saw them looking more and more bedraggled as if the life was just being sucked out of them. And this year with the increased security presence in their lives many of them are feeling the urge to just flee. Megan said she had never held a microphone in her hand until Idol and I believe it. Some of them are just out of their depth and endurance and being able to look at the larger picture is just as important as anything else. I for one cannot wait for the first "tell all" book about this show. I want to know how song selection really works, how restrictive and all encompassing the contract really is, and what the list of "forbidden topics" really consists of. I know that most of them realize they are playing a game in which they hold no cards, and are in it for the ride. For a savvy person it can sometimes work out, but if you are inexperienced or just a bad fit personality wise it has to be very difficult to deal with all of the stress and pressure while knowing you are being manipulated merely for ratings."

| Crystal - I would second those words. I love watching Idol - it is one of the best things ever on TV - and once past the stupid auditions it is really a family-oriented show (if Paula can keep her mouth clean) -- but you do wonder what they are up against on a weekly basis - I know it is a merry-go-round they can only get off by the voters. The problem is these singers do want the prize on the other side of the show - so I believe most of them think a few mths of the pressure is worth it.

| I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | While I agree they are under incredible pressure, I don't think the pressure ends once they win the title. Show business is not for the faint hearted. Many people think they just want to perform and entertain and don't like all the extras that come with the business, but to be successful you have to be so much more than just talented, and you often have to bend your ideals to meet what others think is relevant and marketable. I think it's no wonder that so many performers turn to alcohol and drugs to help ease the pressures of this industry. If you ever do get to the top, people take great delight in bringing you down. American Idol might be good at weeding out those who can't take the pressure, many of their winners seem to be handling their success quite well, so far.

| I agree it's certainly not a career for most. I think where Adam showed his maturity was showing his appreciation for his back up singers and band.

| where is everyone tonight?? I'm so mad at myself - figured idol was on for 1 1/2 hrs 7 I had an errand that had to be ran before 8:30 - so I was off running around & missed the first 2 singers - 2 of my favorites & then the show is only an hour tonight! - I could have waited to do my quick errand after the show was over. What did you think (& the judges) of Danny & Kris? I thought Scott was absolutely horrid - and the judges are still too nice to him - Paula even told him Bravo ![]() I thought Allison sounded the best ever. Absolutely loved Matt tonight

| I agree Scott was terrible. I don't think the judges are judging him fairly. They might be afraid of conflict. He has to go. His time is up. I liked Allison tonight. And that Paula shut up already she just doesn't know when to end it. Someone throw her a fish will you please!!
