American Idol I could not find a thread already started so I thought I would start one. Did anyone watch tonight? Who are your favorites? The voting is a bit different this year, I am not to sure I like the way they are doing it but I guess we will have to make the best of it. At least we will get to pick out of 36 contestants this year. Tonight was the first group of 12. My favorite was Danny Gokey. I also voted for Michael Sarver, not the greatest vocalist but he is from Jasper, Texas which is just about 45 miles from where I live. None of the girls really impressed me but as much as I dislike the drama queen, Tatiana, I think she sang the best. Also Ann Marie and Alexis weren't too bad. |
Yeah, this season is strange. Going from 36 to only 9 is kindof crazy. Maybe they needed a shorter season this year? David Gokey was my favorite too of the night. Of the girls, I hate to say this but I thought Tatiana was the best. I really didn't like her going in because she was sooooo annoying, but she was the best singer tonight..she can sing. But wasn't she acting so wierd tonight? It was like they gave her a sedative or something LOL. I also like Anne Marie and can't believe the judges didn't. I thought she did a good job and had a nice voice. The judges like a lot that I thought sucked..but oh well. Most of the performers tonight were not good |
As a whole, I didn't think they did too well...most picked the wrong songs to sing...weird. I liked Danny...he definitely has talent and I think he'll do very well. I also like Alexis, the blonde with pink hair girl and yes, Tatiana was okay too. She was very annoying and maybe she finally saw herself or her friends told her how crazy she looked. She even said her friends told her they had never seen her act or laugh like that before....strange. Like Simon said, and I hate to say it too, but it kind of takes away from what we know of her now. She definitely needed to calm down a bit but tonight she was way too calm. LOL I thought she was getting back to her old self when she was sitting on the couch and Ryan was giving her number again..she almost went off on a tangent again..."please vote for me, this is my dream and I need you to vote.........". This will be interesting to watch. I too think it is weird that they are only going with 3 groups of 12. But I think the top 3 from each go on and then whoever's left, the judges get to pick who they want to also move on. So maybe they will end up with like 12 instead of 9. |
I like Robert Danny Jr. Though I agree with Simon that he was good tonight, he does have good vocals, but he could have been better. I really don't like Tatiana but she was one of the better vocals tonight. There were a lot of poor song choices and equally poor or just plain mediocre performances. I don't understand why Jamar got booted when so many worse than him (in terms of vocals and image) got another chance and even got a sing off while he didn't even get that much. I almost thought the judging this season made more sense up until the judges' mansion cuts. So they chose to put more of the "entertainers" through but they also could have bumped off some rather generic candidates before bumping Jamar. I never thought he'd win and he wasn't a favourite yet, but I couldn't find fault in any of his performances. |
I voted for Danny and Alexis. Praying that Tatiana does NOT make it through - I don't think I could handle it. :) |
I really liked Alexis and Anoop. I also liked Danny (the guy who looks like Robert Downey Jr.). I hate to say it but of the girls Tatianna had the best vocals but she's too annoying. She's even annoying in her calm demeaner..lol..What was up with all the stupid wacked out song choices?? I think from tonights group Alexis, Anoop and Danny will make it through because I think they're doing 3 from each group and a wild card show right? I think that's how I understood it. |
I watched, but was busy working on a project for work - so never voted -- hope that didn't hurt my favorites. I really do not like this new procedure. It might have been better if the top 4 vote getters went through, instead of 3 - or if the judges chose the 4th to go thru. Definitely Danny - he could win the entire thing. Also, like Anoop - he has so much personality. I like a couple of the girls - just not impressed with the performances last night - but I like Casey and Anne Marie. But Michele was right, the best girl was Tatiana. But I don't think I could stand seeing her one more week. The judges called it right last night about Tatiana though - she's just desperate to be famous :rolleyes: -- and I really can't stand people who fall in that category. There is a basketball game on our local Fox station tonight when Idol should be on, and after the game they are going to show the news - so it's not scheduled to be on until 10 pm :thumbdown So I'll probably be checking in here |
All three of the ones I voted for made it through: Danny Gokey, Michael Sarver, and Alexis Grace Hopefully Anoop will still make it in on a second chance. Next week should be really interesting, there are several next week that I like. |
I'm really surprised Michael made it through..I didn't think he did that great with that song. But maybe he'll be better than I think. Even though I think she has mental issues, Tatiana was still the best female vocalist. I don't like Anoop. Alexis was good..just hope she picks better songs from now on. And Danny Gokey was definitely a pick of mine..but i hope they get a stylist on him soon..those glasses tonight were aweful..but he was great! |

As I said before, AI wasn't going to be on here until 10 because of a BB game - so 10 comes, and my lovely DTV converter box isn't working right & our FOX station switched at midnight, so I can't even watch it, to understand what the 2nd chance is. Plus, I missed the first 1/2 hr last night - so if they explained all of this then - I'm just so out of the loop :rolleyes: |

I was thrilled Danny made it, I love his voice! I really like the other two as well. |
I voted for Alexis and Danny, so I was happy with the results. I like Michael but I didn't think his vocals were that good. I'm pretty sure the judges will pick the last three as wild cards. Hoping they pick someone good!! I think Alexis is really good - she has the kind of voice I enjoy listening to. |
