I'm watching "O'Reilly" and he's talking about this situation....Apparently this woman used a sperm doner, they are unable to find any husband or father to these kids. Apparently this fertility clinic doesn't question anyone's motives for having this procedure done....I wonder where in the world did she get the money to fund this procedure?? |
This makes it even more confusing. Octuplets: Eight times the ethical questions - CNN.com # Ethicist says implanting eight embryos would be "outrageous" # Doctors: Patients under 35 would normally get up to 2 embryos implanted |

Another thought of mine is comparing this situation to the other family. They did not bear all of these children. Most are adopted and have health issues. I have to give them "kudos" for taking these children under their roof and giving them what is probably a much better life life than what they had before. From the reports I've seen the kids all seem very happy and well adjusted. I don't know how they do it but I certainly admire them for the love they've given these kids. |
This whole story is so fishy. The IVF should never have taken place, given the circumstances. The fertility clinic is at fault...they should never have agreed to do the procedure. But now, unfortunately there are 8 babies, who's health/lives are at stake. May God bless them... and not the fertility clinic that allowed this to happen |
i read about this today and i also think it's so selfish on her part. She did it on purpose, she is single and lives with mom, so the mom prob. has to help too. its ridiculous, i think she wants the attention though |
The whole situation is just crazy. I know some people relish a large family and it's all good if you can afford it and not have to be a burden to anyone. Ok realistically speaking aside from the financial aspect these children need attention and supervision. She lives with her parents. She and I are the same age....my dad is turning 60 and mom is turning 57. Right now my dad is babysitting my son and niece during the day. I know there is no way in hell my dad could watch 6 much less 14 children when most of them are not school age. So not only is she being irresponsible to her children she is being a total burden to her parents. Go figure at that age they want to visit grandchildren and get ready for their golden retirement years...not having to go back to work or work for a longer time to support more children. As a parent you do what you must to help your children even when they are grown but that is just crazy they are in that position. The doctors that implanted that any embreyos should be brought up to the board of ethics. What they did was totally irresponsible..they jeopardized her life and that of the possible babies. Also there really should have been some sort of counseling offered to her before the procedure. Don't they usually counsel the person to speak to them about the possibilities of what can or can't go wrong. I feel that the doctor was negligent. |
All I know is if I wanted 14 dogs I would be on the news as the crazy dog lady. Then they would take them away because I don't have a kennel license. But you can have 14 children? I just hope they can be taken care of. The poor mother and father of this girl. |

................. and 14 children that may possibly taken care of by hard working tax payers that limit themselves to the number of children that they can afford??????? I hope that I am wrong, and the media is giving bad info...... I really hopethat the gal is able to take good care of them without taxpayer assistance, and has a loving home. (but I am curious how the hospital bill is being paid..... there were 46 doctors involved!!! ) ......... I like the way you think..... I never looked at it from this point of view! Very Good!!! :bravo::goodpost::bravo: |
I don't like to pass on rumors but in this case it's hard not to while trying to make sense of it. I read that she worked for a fertility clinic and was possibly taking fertility drugs on her own. Just a rumor but it makes more sense than a doctor implanting a mother of 6 with 8 embryos. |

i just don't think i could have put myself in that situation knowing i had 6 at home. :) i'm reading Kate Gosselin's book "Multiple Bles8ings" and I just don't know how she done it. And it makes me tired to read how she managed the first year of their life. I admire her and her strength she found in God through this, but i know her situation was totally different than this lady that had eight at one time the other day. :) |

Regardless of the hows or whys of this particular situation, no one can say that someone cannot give their children the attention that they think the children need in any family. Just because someone may have a difficult time with 3 children, doesn't mean that someone cannot give 14 children enough love an attention. Yes, compared to 14, 6 isn't a lot, but my husband and I plan on either having more or adopting. I stay home with my kids, and am probably going back to homeschooling again soon. How many parents have one kid that sits in daycare for 10 hours a day? Kids don't need iphones and thousand dollar wardrobes. The ones that are provided with those things usually grow up to be selfish and greedy anyway. We don't get any assistance from the state at all, but no one can decide that they "don't want their money to go to supporting this family". I don't want my tax dollars supporting most things that it does such as stem cell research (which passed in this state now) and planned parenthood providing abortions. I have no control over it though, aside from placing my vote at election time. I guess I would rather have my tax money go to supporting someone trying to feed their kids rather then kill them. It has sounded from the minute it was released that there were some rather unethical decisions made on the part of the fertility clinic, and I cannot fathom why someone would implant or have implanted, 8 babies. I can understand the outrage there. I cannot stand by though while people are saying that NO mother could provide enough attention for 14 children. Just because you personally could not, doesnt mean that no one can. God designed everyone different, and designed all children different that are made for different families. Sometimes when a person at the store asks me if all these kids are really mine, and I tell them they are, they will say "better you than me!" and I turn and say "you're right! It is better!". I know someone personally with 14 children, and half of them are grown and out of the house now. Every single one of those out of the house are incredible people. They are selfless, happy, great parents, have successful marriages, and none feel as if they didn't get enough attention growing up. |
I forgot to add that the same family that has 14 now does foster care for babies, after having all their other kids naturally. They were just meant to care for a lot of children. They also never lived off of the state. |
Maybe she's hoping to get a show like Jon and Kate Plus 8 or the Duggars since they seem to be very popular/trendy right now. |
