Omg To the lady that got mad and has 6 kids. Let me say that is good for you, I could never do it. And if you can afford it that's great, maybe I need to be doing what you are!!! I live in a small town and cost of living is not that high here as if it is every where else and My husband makes very well at his job. I have 2 kids and don't see how I would do more and afford it. |

Life is about choices. We get to choose what we want to do, for the most part and choosing the # of children we have is also part of that choice. I have friends with 5 and 6 children. I have 3 but that's all I wanted. All I could handle financially and mentally. It's hard today, face it to raise children. Peer pressure, designer clothes, money, college, the list goes on and on. I don't care how wealthy you are there is no way you can give due time to 14 children! It's not mentally or physically possible. To actually plan this is hard to get a grip on. No woman I know would even think to do this insane thing. Not even for a reality show of their own. The show ends at some point and your left with 14 kids to raise. HELLO! |
helllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! !!!!!!!! |

I was just reading on some sites about this situation and I am perplexed on some issues..... Supposedly this woman is 33 years old, she has six other children and they range in age from 7-2 years old. So apparently she had these children back to back..... Why would a woman who apparently had no problems getting pregnant suddenly need, or want, fertility treatments?? .... And why would she request they implant double the amount they typically would do in such a procedure?? |

There are so many reports swirling around, it's hard to know what is true at this point! I've read she's married and her husband is a contractor working in Iraq and I've read she's single and it's her Dad who's from Iraq and going back to work and raise money. I just now read she filed bankruptcy two years ago and walked away from her house! Also that she worked in a fertility clinic! Geez! I agree with the person who said, I DON'T want to be paying for these babies! There are so many people who save and can't afford a shot at one baby, if she's financially secure, that's one thing, but if she has to have public assistance, that's horrible! I do think the fertility clinic that treated her should be looked into. I watched some Dr.s on tv saying any reputable clinic would have put her through psychological counseling. Strange situation! |

I agree with another post....... it is none of my business how many kids you have.......... as long as I (as a taxpayer) don't have to help support them. A friend of mine and her husband LONG to have a child and have been unsuccessful. They have been thru ALL the procedures. My heart goes out to them. If I find out that this new Mom is getting any kind of welfare or taxpayer support (after having an invitro procedure) I will be furious. If that is the case, ANY business or company that "supports" or donates anything to this family, I will do my best NOT to do business or support them. I will not support IGNORANCE when the economy is in such an awful state...... and there are loving couples that really want (and can afford to support) these children. I know that there are some of you that will disagree with my opinion, but please remember that it is an opinion...... and I will respect your opinions also. |
Well apparently they aren't secretly wealthy (shock!). Octuplets' Family Filed For Bankruptcy, Source: Also Abandoned A House; L.A. Times: Mom Had Embryos Implanted; Ethicist Blasts Clinic That Did - CBS News CBS News has learned that the family of the octuplets born this week outside Los Angeles filed for bankruptcy and abandoned a home a little over a year-and-a-half ago. Early Show national correspondent Hattie Kauffman says the mother is in her mid-thirties and lives with her parents. There's been no mention of the octuplets' father, Kauffman observes. The grandfather, she adds, is apparently going to head back to his native Iraq to earn money for the growing family. He told CBS News he's a former Iraqi military man. Kauffman reported Thursday, and the octuplets' maternal grandmother now confirms to the Los Angeles Times, that the babies' mother already had six young children. Octuplets Mom Has 6 Other Kids, Acquaintance Tells CBS News She Also Has 4 Boys, 2 Girls; 2 Of The Others Are Twins - CBS News The woman and her children live on a cul-de-sac with her parents. A man who came to the door of the family home confirmed to Kauffman that he's the grandfather of the octuplets, but refused to speak to her. "From what you know about this family, and this household, do you think they'll be able to support 14 kids?" Kauffman asked the acquaintance. "Well," she responded, "so far, they've been fine with the six they have. Fourteen I don't know." Kauffman says the neighborhood has homes with just two or three bedrooms. It will, Kauffman concluded, "be tight!" This is ridiculous IMO. 14 children living in a 3 bedroom home with no father- and these circumstances were assisted by medical intervention?! |
