Why is there a need for censorship on YT? If people are wrongly damaged by someone's irresponsible and malicious behavior, they want to be made whole again, and someimes the only way to accomplish that if the perpetrator refuses to retract or apologize for the wrong they committed and the damage they did, is to bring them before our civil justice system. It is how our society resolves difficult conflicts between individuals and entities when they cannot resolve their disputes in an amicable way without it. It is a last resort in most instances.

In the second case, since the individual did nothing wrong except respectfully disagree and defend someone, there is no chance for the publicly humiliated to respond since the one's wiith control and power chose to abuse it to their benefit.

| Let me start by saying "this is just my opinion..I could be wrong!" I don't post very often on this site for fear of the "round about attack". The RAA, in my opinion, is using "just my opinion" to call someone a liar or a name or to belittle someone! I have read threads that got my blood boiling or offended me in a very personal way. When that happens...I close the thread and move on! Yes, there are times when I have seen people attacked and it seemed to me to be a bit squed (can't spell..sorry) as to who got disapplend (sp?) and who didn't. I don't admin a site, so I won't say one way or the other, how well I think they do it or don't do it! I do believe that people should have the right to defend themselves when attacked in public without being censored. I also believe that as supposed adults we should be able to behave ourselves in public! I don't come to these boards to be humiliated or hurt in an RAA, I come here to check on my friends and their pets..to step away from my own troubles for a time..to maybe help someone with their troubles. Anyway, this is all just my opinion..and you know what they say about opinions: "Opinions are like A$$holes..everyone has one and everyone thinks everyone elses stink!"Kathy and Sir Pepper |

| Administrator | AlaskaYorkie brought up some very good points, many of which the YorkieTalk team agrees with. While we do not like to see any personal attacks of any kind, there have been many threads created where members talk about the problems they have with a family member, co-worker, client, or customer. We believe that those posts are fine, as long as it doesn't cross a line and becomes threatening or harassing. We may need to revisit our Off Topic forum policies, but without Off Topic, we still believe people would get off topic in the other forums. The admins and moderators try to let everyone speak their mind, but there are times when things get out of control, and that is when we have to step in and close and delete posts or threads. Things can get out of control easily, and we'd rather have posts closed rather than have things escalate into where members may possibly get suspended. We also do not like to suspend or ban anyone, but we feel it's necessary in the best interest of YorkieTalk as a whole. Just because YorkieTalk is a open, public forum that anyone can join does that mean any member has the right to write anything they wish. This community is not owned by the public. Membership is a privilege and not a right. YorkieTalk admins and moderators can close or delete your account if they find the need to (but this would only happen if you break rules or somehow otherwise cause trouble). We have rules for a reason, without them, there would be chaos at YT. We have tried to be loose with rules before, but we simply found that it doesn't work for our community. Decisions about threads, users, or issues are always made with the best interests of YorkieTalk in mind. We want this community to be strong, positive, informational, fun, and about Yorkies. There are members here who seem to be quite unhappy with YorkieTalk, but yet they continue to stick around to post snide comments, be rude, complain, and be disrespectful to the people running the site. Why, we don't know. Obviously there are other places for one to discuss their Yorkies, but we will not let any one individual or groups of people try to ruin YorkieTalk. We have told several members that we wouldn't want to ruin their happiness by being on YT and being so unhappy, and we do mean it. If you are unhappy here, don't like our policies, don't agree with the way we run things, and don't want to be a part of this community, you are free to leave. No one is making you stay here. There have also been rampant rumors that the people running YT were a part of the "YorkieTalk CSI" team. This is completely untrue and false. We were not involved with that account in any way, we did not create that account, and we did not post that thread. There are those that will not believe us, and that's your decision if you do not believe us. Last edited by admin; 08-28-2005 at 11:24 AM. |
