| Salmonella outbreak due to tainted peanut butter Thank God I don't have any of these products in my home! Everyday I am hearing about more products on the list. I wondered about dog biscuits - tonight I heard some PetSmart biscuits are on the recall lists. And soooo many human foods. Here's the FDA link Salmonella Typhimurium Outbreak My dogs love Cloud Star's Buddy Biscuts with peanut butter - thank goodness they are not affected. Although, I will keep checking the FDA list, as it seems it keeps growing. You all check too - at least 6 people have already died from eating this tainted peanut butter. It's mostly in products - not the stuff you buy in a jar. Tonight, on the local news they said they checked with the Girl Scouts and their products are safe - whew! I just ordered 6 box of GS cookies on Monday

| I think you have to be careful of everything with peanut butter in it right now because it seems every day they are adding to that list

| As long as the supply of chocolate is not tainted, or coffee, I should be safe

| Isn't this the second time in as many years that PB was the cause of salmonella? I wonder what is going on!

| My boyfriend LOVES peanut butter. I remember a while back when it was recalled, we went to Sonic for shakes and he couldn't get his favorite (peanut butter fudge) because of the recall. I'm not a huge peanut butter person though but Lilly does love her Snausages Peanut Butter & Apple treats and she just finished off the jar yesterday and we were fine. Who knows!!! I know I'm not buying anymore right now.

| I have a question about dogs and salmonella. I have read on here that people have fed their dogs once in awhile a raw chicken leg. Chicken is known to contain salmonella and when cooked properly the strain dies. Well how come a dog can eat raw chicken ok but salmonella in treats can make them ill? I know there are differnet strands of salmonella so is the one found in raw chicken ok for dogs? I have read somewhere that dogs cannot get salmonella. Im sure this is not true though now.

Most of the time, dogs do not get sick from it, and those that do have milder symptoms than humans, and from what I have read, they do not die from it. The biggest factor in dogs exposed to salmonella is that they do pass it in their stools. So even though a dog on a raw food diet may not ever have symptoms, they can still shed the bacteria through their stools. So don't eat your dogs poop
