| ![]() Any one own or have experience with Toy Poodles? I ran an errand Sunday afternoon and when I returned there was a tiny black male laying on my door step. It was very cold and he didn't have a collar, so I took him inside. I have posted flyers, checked in with the vet and groomers near my house to find his family. Until they are located, do poodles have the same neck issues as Yerkes? I wanted to take this little guy on walks with Max. Harness time? Max, by the way, is THRILLED by his visitor. They are having a great time together. I guess it is time for him to have a little sister... ![]()

| ![]() Well, bless your heart for taking that baby in! ![]() First, have you taken him to the vet to get checked? I would to just make sure he isn't carrying something yucky that could be passed on!!! Second, I am a true believer in harnesses. I never attach a leash to a collar on any dog...not even my big labs! So, definitely, put a harness on that baby when going for a walk....it is a good idea to have a collar with their tags on it though...if you are keeping that baby...you don't want it to get lost either! ![]()

| ![]() Yes, they definitely can have trachea issues. I had a red toy poodle for 16 years. I wish I had known about the potential trachea issues before I ever put him on a collar and leash. He did end up with collapsed trachea issues. Nothing too severe but again, I wish I would have known about harnesses. Good luck finding his owner OR good luck with your new pal!

| ![]() I took him to the vet this morning. I thought maybe he escaped from their boarding facility. ![]() I agree regarding the harnesses and think I will get one for him. He's a tiny guy and I wouldn't want to hurt him. I also agree on collars and need to get one for Max....just can't find one locally that I like! Thanks for the help!

| ![]() Maybe someone didn't want their dog anymore and have decided to just leave him at your doorstep. I am glad you took him in ![]()

I really like Cindy's (chattiesmom) silk collars, harness/leash! They are the only ones we use! ![]()

| ![]() Poodles are one of the smartest breeds of dog IMO. I had one years ago who unfortunately died at age 11 with heart problems but she was soooo smart and was potty trained in 2 weeks. |

| ![]() I received a call from the poodle’s owner last night. Turns out he is 2 years old and his name is Jack. He apparently ran out of this lady’s house on Sunday and she said “if he’s going to run out, he’s going to have to fend for himself”. OK….but how can he do that with cars all around (I am close to a very busy interstate in AL [I65]) and mid-20s temps? She didn't seem too concerned and said she wanted to replace him in her breeding program anyway. This poor little guy has the audacity of being ¼” taller than standard (everyone wants real small dogs, stupid owner tells me) and the one time he was bred, he only “threw” one puppy. At this point, I’m ready to jump through the phone and smack her one. LOL! But, it gets worse. She then says ‘if you want him, he’s yours’ and that it will “save me a trip to the pound”. OMG! I had barely gotten off the phone when she shows up at my door with his papers. She didn’t say a word to him or pet him, just handed the papers and left. I’m not sure what I will do at this point but, I will not take him to the pound (does this mean Humane Society?) and will not take him back to that “person”. If he is not with me and Max, I WILL find him a great home. Thanks again everyone for your help!

| ![]() Shame on her! A responsible breeder would have taken the time to rehome a retired stud or female..... not just let it run away to be someone else's responsibility. Good luck with rehoming him. Keep in mind though that since he has been used for breeding, he may want to mark in your house so be careful with him!

| ![]() I totally agree with Angie. Shame on that lady! But my bestfriend has a toy poodle and she is just a little joy. So hopefully you will find a wonderful home for him.
