They have activated voluntary evacuation orders for Lafourche Parish below Hwy 90. I'm probably 20 miles above that point. LA 1 will have water over the roadway early on even if the storm passes to the east.

PLEASE BE SAFE !! This one is looking scary - I would love to live in Florida and I think I could handle all the hurricanes - but this one is big !

Most of the parishes are holding out until the next hurricane service advisory at 11 AM Eastern before they issue mandatory evacuation orders.

There are a few computer models that are pulling it back toward the east, towards Mississippi, but you just never know.

well, this is the 1st time i have internet, tv, and power since thursday morning! soo much stronger than we thought. a small town called Waterways also got a small tornado! all of our trees are down and when we went driving yesterday it literally looks like a bomb site! sooo cool yet soo spooky
my dads car has holes literally! he has 1,000$+ in damage. his sunroof is popped! his windsheild has holes and his trunk has a minor dent
also, my window screens flew off~!

Finally I have internet, it was alot worse than everyone thought. We had flickering power, no phone. It looks like a war zone out there. It was worse in this area than both storms last year. Last year we were lucky but this time we weren't so lucky. Lucky we have a garage. So mainly it was all damage to the landscaping. I wish good luck to anyone who is in the way of Katrina's next path. Be safe and I hope all is well.

Glad to hear you're alright.

I specifically took photos of all my landscaping this morning as well as all of our new fencing. I don't want it disputed that it existed before the storm or to what extent my plants were mature.

The roads, even around me, are getting busy. Hwy 1 through Lafourche Parish is not bumper to bumper but steady.

I'll be praying for all you guys in Katrina's path and also for those who've already been hit! Ariella and Kara, sorry to hear about your damage. Tina, I know you must have been relieved to hear from your dad. Glad he's OK. Wow, how frightening! Lisa, I know you're not online now so I'm assuming you have evacuated. Be safe and take care of your family and your furbabies. My parents lived in Naples and Marco Island, FL for 17 years until they had to move back north to care for their elderly parents. They were fortunate never to have any serious damage from a hurricane. Hope your property makes it through OK. I'll be thinking of you as I watch the weather reports. Stay safe and let us hear from you when you are able to.

We are about 100 miles from the coast of Mobile, AL. So we will get some effects here as we did with Ivan and Dennis. I fell very blessed we have a basement to hide in if we need to. Was hoping it wasn't coming this way, it is so much work to prepare. With as hot as it has been I can imagine being without electricity- which me no AIR CONDITIONING!!!!!

NO FANS either.....

Hope it breaks up like Dennis did once it hits land...... For all of us down here in the south !!!!!!
