No sew blankets -exciting

They're 4". We loveee Strawberry Shortcake too! That was from leftover fleece where I made her sleeping bag. I just went through my leftover fleece from projects and used some of it. I still have enough to make another flower one but I want to get some solid red for it. I've made them before but I always used the balloon knots and it was so hard and discouraging. As soon as I tried it last night with the shoelace nights, they're soooo easy, it took me like a little over 30 minutes to make one.

Here is her Strawberry Shortcake sleeping bag I made a while back (it's sewn together though and the edges are just fringed) and then a blanket I made my boyfriend's step mom back summer of last year. He's 6'3" if that tells you anything.

Oh, I love the strawberry shortcake bag, if you don't want it you can ship it to me...hehe.. and when you say shoelace knot are you talking about the same one we do when we tie our shoes....LOL.. I can't tell on the ones you made last night. Is the balloon knot the one we saw in the video? That knot seemed really easy to me. But when i tried what I think you are calling the shoe lace not I didn't like it. I would think that would come untied rather easily.

The way I did the shoelace knots was tied them once (like when you're starting out on tying your shoe then I double tied which would make it a knot. I like it a lot better, I just feel it looks better but that may be just me. The balloon knot is the way you'd tie a balloon, not sure what video you're talking about. I pretty much just experiment with my stuff and do different things on my own until I find what works best for me.

That's how I do mine too.

Also, just my opinion, the balloon tie, by the pictures I saw in the link in the previous post, doesn't show the contrast fleece as well.

well i just finished one of mine! my boyfriend & i are both gator fans (woo national champs! ) so i got UF fleece to make our blankets. this my first one i made & i used one yard of each and tied with balloon knots all while watching the LOST season 4 finale lol. i think riley likes the blanket

Okay dumb question... what's the difference between a balloon knot and a shoelace knot? Anyone care to show me close ups? Sorry I'm visual...

They show the balloon knot on the video provided earlier in the thread. You hold the pieces together and tie like a balloon. If you look at my blanket that is what I did. I don't have a closeup but the video shows it pretty well.
I have never done the shoelace knot, but from what Emilyann says you just tie together like your tying your shoe and then knot. Emilyann's posted her blankets with the shoelace knot.

thanks i'm working on my pink gators one.. i trimmed it up last night i just have to cut the fringe and tie it today. i'm going to make a big one, like 4-5 yards, for my boyfriend & i to snuggle up in

I finally finished mine today. I had a hard time with the balloon knots so I did the shoelace or double knots. They're much easier to do but I think I prefer the balloon knot because it gives the blanket a nice flat look to the fringe. I'll try to re-size my photo, if not I'll post link.

I think it makes the blanket lay more flat but I like the shoelace because the coordinating fabric shows a lotttt more. Can't wait to see yours!
