THAT is actually my opinion on it too, believe it or not. I don't think he should be viewed as a role model either. I don't want him back in the NFL either and would never support a team that would have him. But that is just MY opinion. I don't think it's my place to dictate what company can hire him and which can't. As far as not wanting your children (theoretically speaking) to look up to someone like that...shouldn't that be the parent's job to instill those values in their child and teach them right from wrong? It's not the NFL's responsibility to instill values on the youth of America, that is something that comes from parenting.
You wouldn't be allowed because of the type of work you do. I personally don't think that he "got special treatment" because of who he is. He got a sentence a heck of a lot stricter that any average Joe would have gotten. People are convicted of the same crime frequently and get community service and a fine IF that even. Do I think the penalties for animal cruelty should be more harsh? You bet I do, for both the suffering the animals are subjected to AND because I think it masks a deeper, dangerous psychological issue. But they aren't as strict as they should be and per our justice system, he will have served his time and at that point should be free to re-enter the work force, whatever that may be. I'm confused by how he has been rewarded over all of this? He got and is getting what he deserves, fines, jail time, loss of property, a tarnished reputation, fired from his job and loss of his income from endorsements. Which is exactly what he deserves. If you feel that strongly about it, boycott the team that signs him, or boycott the NFL altogether. |
I agree. There was a man here who poisoned his dog with antifreeze, hung him from a tree, and beat him. The dog lived, amazingly, because people witnessed it and saved him. However, I don't think his punishment will be that bad at all. Vick got the book thrown at him for what the pleaded to. They set an example with him.
I don't like him at all. You know who else I don't like? Kobe Bryant, so I just don't pay attention to him or support him. |
