I'm so anal about my desktop it's unreal... I don't like unneccessary things on it... I don't like clutter.... I only have a few icons and I'm not really keen about them being on there but they have to be in a nice arranged order and in categories! When I change my photos on my background I have to have the colours round the them co-ordinate with the photo! Seriously, I just read this back and cracked myself up... I have issues!

I am the same way...I CAN'T stand to have any more icons than necessary on my desktop. Shortcuts are the worst! I like having My Computer at the top so I can easily find any documents or pictures that I need, then of course the Trash, and then Mozilla. It bugs me to have the Network Magic icon on there but I can't get rid of it! LOL geez, I sound pretty weird too!

Have you thought about creating an icon you like or even a transparent icon? This site allows you to make and download an icon: Online Icon Maker - create your own icons in an online free editor.. You could replace your current icons with transparent one. You would still need lettering as in "my computer", but you can set the lettering the same color as your screen picture, so it will disappear too. This advice is only good for the truly anal.

Hehehe, welcome to my world! Ugh, don't talk to me about shortcuts... I hate installing programs and they don't give you the option to not install the deskstop shortcuts and then you look and BAM, there's like 3 shortcuts!

I actually feel your pain about your icon you can't remove so I googled for you... try this... Go into the Pure Networks Network Magic dialogue box (searched for Network Magic in the search box under the Start menu). Then, under Tools-Options, I checked the "Hide Network Magic Folders Desktop Icon". I hope it works.

I can cope with the 9 on my desktop... I use them everyday and I think my deskstop looks all weird without any icons at all... see... anal!

Wow, thanks Nancy! I'm going to take a look at that site. I have to agree with Vicky though, no icons at all is just as weird as too many!
