| Need your help girls! Ok so I'm going to my bf's office Christmas party this Saturday and don't know what to wear! I know it has to be something fancy but how fancy? It's going to be at the Ritz on the ocean in West Palm Beach. Are we just talking cocktail dresses? Knee length or full length? I've never been to a work Christmas party before and don't know what to expect. I'm really not one to wear dresses so I'm not sure. I know a cotton dress won't due. I'm going to try hard to find a dress that looks nice. My last resort will be dress pants and a nice satin blouse. What do I do with my hair? Just keep it down and straight? Scrunch it myself? Go get it done with an up-do? I don't want to be under-done or over the top. I'm so lost..... What have you girls done in the past. Pictures would be great! TIA!!!!

| Sorry guys! Didn't mean to exclude you! If you have any suggestions or pictures of what your wives have worn in the past that'd be great! Or what you've seen other women wear!

| I am not all knowing about such things. I would probably be "that girl" the one that wears something totally inappropriate. I was just wondering if you know any of his co-workers wives and could ask them? Thats what I did for my first MP ball, asked all the other military wives what to wear and made them show me pictures. haha. Have fun! hope others are more knowledgeable then I. |

| You can never go wrong with a tasteful black cocktail dress. At the Ritz? There will be women there really dressed up but you're safe to go with black. Just below the knee, black heels and flashy earrings. If you have great hair just wear it down but make SURE those earring show. You be understated & stunning! I promise. |

| I agree with the two posts above, and was going to recommend a black cocktail dress with killer black shoes. You can never go wrong with that. You might want to add a great accessory to make the outfit yours-sparkly earrings, an amazing clutch purse, a bright red wrap, etc. (depending on the style of your dress) Like Teresa said, make sure you own your look, and be confident about the outfit you choose to wear-if you do that, you'll give off a great vibe Have a great time!

| I lived in Palm Beach Co. for 7 years and those ladies love to dress up. A pretty, festive cocktail dress will be perfect. Obviously not super short but above the knees is great. You don't need to go full length formal unless the invitation specifically said formal.

| After re-reading your post I see you said you aren't comfortable in dresses. A pair of nice dressy black pants and a beaded evening top would work well too. Just make sure the shoes and bag are the type you would wear with a cocktail dress. If you aren't comfortable styling your own hair and can get an appointment with your stylist I would do that. Your stylist should be able to suggest a great hairstyle for what you'll be wearing. Have fun! ps- don't worry too much about over dressing- it's very hard to do in West Palm.

| I like to wear dressy tops with skinny jeans a lot when we go out so I thought I could find a picture to give you an idea on tops if you decide against a cocktail dress (of course you don't want to wear jeans to an event like yours). A top like this with dressy pants would work well. I'm the one on the right. This was taken on our cruise in the cabin hence the tacky background. OMG I can't believe I posted that second silly picture but it shows the top the best.

| I don't have a clue as to what you could wear, I hardly go anywhere without my jeans on..But, be careful, have fun, and don't be getting into any trouble. Don't want my nephew(he's a deputy there) telling me he had to go there and arrest some drunk chicks... |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | If wearing a dress, go black - then have fun w/ accessories - wear great shoes, a great earring, and a long funky necklace that almost reaches your belly button (or a long string of pearls). Then do simple hair. If pants, you could still do all black and do fun accessories (think Coco Chanel or something) or do black pants, a colored or funky top, a retro shoe, and a great earring. For evening, I also love stand-up collars with a great earring - and then hair up in a messy do.

| I just went to my boyfriends office party this past saturday night and was kinda in the same situation you are in now! They had it at this place called Hillcrest Manor, and it was absolutely beautiful! I finally decided to go with a black pencil skirt, and a purple satin blouse that I tucked in and the front at little ruffles on it. Then I put a black cardigan sweater over top because the blouse was short sleeved, added black nylons and black stilettos and I was good to do. Sorry I dont have any pics. But I am sure that whatever you pick out will be great!
