| Whirlpool washer Our washer went out. It was a front loader and a Maytag. I thought we would have to buy a top loader to replace it because we are budgeted right now with Christmas. Any way we were in Lowes yesterday and they had a front loader whirlpool on sale because it was a floor model and we bought it. Are whirlpool washers pretty good? I really thought our maytag would last longer than it did we paid pretty good money for it. So I was disapointed when it quit working

YT 500 Club Member | We just bought a Roper, which is part of Whirlpool. Hope they are good too. The Maytag product is not as good as it was in the past. My step-daughter had one, and it shook like crazy. She finally had to get rid of it because it walked across the laundry room all the time. My sister had the same problem with a Maytag and finally got rid of hers too. Hope your new one is great. Nice job on the good deal.

| I just bought a new Whirlpool front loader in WV and I have a Frigidare Front Loader in AZ (that I love) I had a Maytag top loader in WV that didn't last and I thought Maytag would be best too?? The new Whirlpool front loader vibrates real bad so when the guy came to check it out he said "buy the extended warranty"!! I think newer is getting worse??? I hope it lasts!!!! |

My maytag washer and dryer, and my brother's are about 5 years old and still going strong, but they are older models, bought when my Dad got us a steep discount. At one time, they were considered the best appliance brand you could buy. When my brother went to buy a new Fridge, he was told that Fridgidaire is the ONLY company who still manufactures in America--not sure if this is correct or not. I have a fridgidaire stainless side by side that is 5 years old and is going strong--so I think its a pretty good brand too. | |

| You can't go by brand names like we use to in the past because the appliances these days are made with parts from all different brands. I have a Maytag top loader and a Kenmore dryer. Both are almost 8 years old and not a tiny bit of a problem. These days, they are not as reliable. We have friends who work on washer and dryers and they are the ones we go to with questions. I want front loaders too, but am going to wait till these are not worth fixing, which could be years. Maybe by that time I will know what the best choice will be.

| I worked for Whirlpool here in Ohio for 19 years and wanted to share what I know. Whirlpool bought Maytag about 2 years and closed down most of the original Maytag factories. We build dryers here in Marion, about 24,000 a day. That includes Whirlpool, Kenmore, Roper, Kitchen Aid, Maytag, and other models sold in Europe. I know they aren't built to last like they were many years ago but nothing seems to be anymore. So many products are considered throw away after a few years but Whirlpool still builds an excellant quality product. My son is a tool and die maker there and I know they still consider quality an extremely important part of building their product regardless of what model is going down the assembly line. I would never hesitate to buy a Whirlpool product. My entire kitchen is filled with Whirlpool appliances including the Microwave oven and the washer and dryer and when the time comes to replace them I will again buy Whirlpool. Sorry if I sound like I'm on a soap box but I just wanted to share what I know about Whirlpool products.
