To those of you that have used a baby monitor, please let me know which brand you are familiar with. Did you use one that was not battery operated and was it efficient, and not noisy?

Hi Patti I used a Tomy one, both parts plug in and have a dial so you can turn it up to pick up smaller sounds. I've never had problems with it 'buzzing' or making any unwanted noise. I'm sure there are better monitors out there - this was very cheap compared to some I've seen (£30 - not sure what that equates to in US dollars) but for a basic model I found it very good. Thanks Claire, I am going to take back the one I bought this afternoon and look for another, the receiver has such a loud hum along with electrical interference noise :-(
